You are both right! In a follow-up conversation with my Sony insider with Blu-ray products development last night, he did confirm these two players will be Profile 2.0 . The post reads exactly as my first post with the exception of adding in the Profile 2.0 BD-Live feature.

So if I have a Pioneer Elite 94 that does both DTS-HD and Dolby-HD I can get away with the Sony BDP-S350 $ 349.99 and not suffer any loss of features right?

...but as with all off-player decoding you lose real-time mixing such as language/commentary/pip.

The main feature should play the same.
