Hey Frogger.

What's this madness I hear about The Avengers LFE being capped? This can't be for real.

Here's a direct link to the thread that was being discussed in Ace's thread:

It looks to me like this waterfall shows LFE down to around 22~25hz :

[Show spoiler]

And this one looks to me like it goes down to around 15~20hz:

[Show spoiler]

None of these are from the North American release however.

Need to find time to rewatch my copy of The Avengers. Don't remember being overly impressed with the movie or audio. I liked it a lot, but after all the hype I was expecting more. Gotta give it a critical listen.

What up other T?

Have you seen all of the other movies leading up to this one? That could make a pretty big difference if you haven't. From what I experienced in the theater, I thought this had reference A/V written all over it, especially in the LFE department.

I own all of them. Just don't think The Avengers was the best film of the year. The battle scenes were toooooooo long for me.

I'm not gonna get my knickers in a knot until I've actually watched the movie at home.

I wouldn't necessarily say it was the BEST FILM OF THE YEAR but I really enjoyed it.

With all of the superheroes in this movie, it kind of had to have an over the top amount of battle scenes. Near the end, it did get a little crazy, and it vaguely reminded me of a Tranformers movie, as far as the action insanity overload, but it felt like it had much more purpose to what was going on to me.

Hell, my subs are "supposedly" -3db at 23hz, and I would say that with room gain, they might be doing "something" at around 18~20hz, so I doubt I would notice much of anything missing, from looking at those graphs. It's really just a principle thing to me. Of all movies, this one should go deeeeeep.

I would have to agree on the deep comment. Should go down to 18-20Hz...

What's happenin' David?

I was just saying that my subs "might" be doing "something" down around 18-20hz. Some people over at AVS have said that The Avengers blu-ray might be cut-off around 30hz. From what I've read, the disrete LFE production channel on blu-ray has a range of 3hz-120hz.

Hi there Joe. Just woke up from a nightmare of sorts. It's been a long time since i've had one of those.

I also just bought one of these used (1TB harddisk incl.): WD TV Live Hub

Not the fanciest media player around for online content like the Roku or even the Boxee but it get's the job done and i've always been curious about these types of boxes. 160$ is a fair enough price for what im getting i think.

WOW! Cut-off at 30Hz would be a huge travisty to the movie.

What is the in-room extension on your subs, do you know?

Out of all this time I just noticed that you had an Onkyo TX-NR809. UGH!

How are you loving it?

Sometimes I enjoy a good nightmare. It really lets you know that you're alive. It's sort of like a really good horror movie.

I bet it'll hold lots o' shit and/or good stuff.

"I think I'm startin' to feel that drink." "There's no footing anywhere." Name that movie.

Probably not anywhere near your what yours can do. If I were you, I would get another matching sub as soon as I could afford it. It will amaze you with overall room balance, plus when you have two, the dynamic range increases two-fold, and the bottom-end depth increases. You can actually turn it down, which gives you more reserve power and better dynamics, and by having two, it vastly increases the size of the sweet spot of the room. There is nothing like having two subs, except for having even more.

From switching from my entry level Sony HD receiver to the 809, I would say that it made almost as much of a difference as getting better front speakers. It's so much cleaner, with infinetly more dimensionality and clarity and effortlessness. The Audyssey XT 16x satellites and 128x subs eq is amazing. I can't even imagine how good XT32 is.

I'm sure I'll get another sometime in the future. There's a few other things I want to get first
