absolutely nothing besides the fact that they are limited to 3000 copies. they're barebones releases that are just given to them by Sony (for the most part) and they toss the encode on a disc.

My guess is eBay and amazon will be flooded with many of these copies. It will be interesting to see how much they will be going for after it sells out. I feel bad for the people that either don't know about TT or do not follow bluray.com. They will have to pay a premium because of it.

God damnit. I held out this long. I don't even like the film that much, and found the DVD to meet my needs AV wise. But I can't help but be worried this turns out to be a barnstorming release image wise, and I really don't want to miss out on that.

Yes, image quality factors into my decision more than the actual quality of the film. I should be ashamed.

Worse case scenario it looks terrible and can sell it on eBay

Well, it is not going to look terrible. This is a transfer done by Sony . And, please guys lets not bring other studios into the mix . The Fright Night thread was temp closed due to back and forth about different business models.

Well since we have to constantly be shown how many copies are left quite regularly for this title, can someone please post how many of the Enemy Mine copies are left?

I do hope that they consider a new business model one day. I wonder if the 3,000 limit was imposed by them to create an artificial demand, or whether Sony put such restrictions on the distribution? I have to imagine it's the former.

With titles like this selling 3,000 in a little over a week I'm sure they'd probably love to sell another 3,000, but they also realize that the limited nature is part of the appeal to many people and they likely also rely on scalpers to boost sales and hype it up too.

I think perhaps they should consider selling 2 versions:

1.) A limited "Deluxe" edition of say 1,500 for $35 with a magnet, and special features. Perhaps even limited and signed whenever possible.

2.) A second edition of 5,000 for $20 without a magnet, or special features and not numbered.

Additionally they can also create discounts if you're buying multiple releases.

I think that business model would definitely be more appealing to most people. The limited ed. collector's and scalpers would still have something they want, and even those who wouldn't normally pay the high price might because of the extras. And then the second group are for the rest who complain that the prices are too high.

edit: sorry if this is off-topic or whatever. feel free to delete it if necessary

Their agreement with Sony is based on 3,000 units acreedor that other royalties and considerations come into play. The only thing TT can do to bring demand and supply to balance is raise the price for the higher demand releases.

Please discuss TT and their pricing if you wish, but not other releasing companies. And also, no trolling .
