Doesn't the 705 also have an phono inpu? And it isn't "twice as much. $400 or a little less for the 605 vs. $600 for the 705.

Still, I'm looking at the Yammy V663 nest month for about $500

Less than $400 shipped (605) vs. $650 shipped (705)

I found the 605 on Ebay for $360 shipped, but I realized it isn't an authorized Onkyo dealer. I want the warranty!

If anyone can point me toward a cheaper 705, hook me up!

accessories4less.com has the Onkyo TXSR 605 for $349.99 with free ground shipping and the 705 for $529.99. They advertise as an authorized dealer. I have not done any business with them but the price sounds right.

Pre-outs are outputs on the receiver you would use if you wanted to hook your speakers up to a separate amplifier. They do basically the same thing as your speaker output jacks, but they send the signal out without amplifying the signal so that your external amp can do it.

Now you may not care about having those at the moment, but I'm always of the opinion that having more is always better. If, for some reason you want to use an amp in the future, then you won't have to buy another receiver.
