The Good: Incredible performances by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, and Pierce Gagnon. The time-traveling here is the most plausible and well-thought-out one I've ever seen committed to film. Engrossing from start to finish. There's not a single moment that's wasted or unnecessary. Surprisingly unpredictable (huge props to that since I can't remember the last time a movie kept me guessing where it's headed). Bruce Willis going on a rampage -- totally badass. Piper Perabo topless.

The Bad: Jeff Daniels' character, while terrifying, is not as fleshed out as one would hope. The main foil to Gordon-Levitt/Willis (played by Noah Segan) seems to always conveniently stumble into the plot at the right time. Garret Dillahunt's character, who's introduced halfway into the movie, could've been integrated into Segan's character. The time-traveling seems flawless until this one moment during the climax (which was likely done for dramatic purposes). Overall, just minor quibbles.

The Bottom Line: Looper is smart, stylish, thrilling, fresh, and carefully written; there are no gaping plot holes or loose ends here. If you've been waiting for the next great sci-fi film, well, your wait is over. Looper is one of the best films of the year. Highly recommended.

Real quick!
Just got back from the Premiere Of Life of Pi( with presenter Ang Lee and cast) it was Amazing can't wait for the Blu ray...visually it is something special! Saw it in 3D but it didn't really need it. If I had to sum it up quick... I would say it has the feel of Cast away but with action and some ruff stuff too! A really beautiful film with something to say. Do yourself a fav and check it out when it comes out in Nov.

Cool. There was a screening for this a few months ago and I really wanted to go see it, but it was too far. I'm looking forward to this. It should look amazing in IMAX.

The pacing was cool too. It was just a massive rush of events with no time wasted on story or character development. Seriously, as I know that was their intent. 95 minutes gone in what felt like 20. Wham Bam Go Go Go.

its perfectly reasonable to me that his daughter would ask the rapist dude to confess, that he would hit her, that she would shoot him in defense. its reasonable to me too that the dad (a cop) would pull a Dexter and cover up the murder of an evil person. But you could argue he should have, with his Cop-lens Seems like the "cop" part of him could reasonably/realistically work for him or against him - for him to call in the self-defense, or against him for setting up the staged murder. Both IMO are reasonable/realistic

If the story had been told in a linear fashion I would have probably written a review about "Another CRAP French film".

Yeah, the pacing is why it works so well for me, it moves so fast that you can never stop and think, I just had a blast watching it. Although if they held off with the

stuff it would of had more of a shock, although we'd miss out on some of the best jokes.

The Blues Brothers (1980)

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

You need to be of a certain age to actually have seen The Blues Brothers for the first time on SNL. I don't believe anyone would ever made the bet that they would become that popular. In the movie the band is on a mission from God in order to find money to save the orphanage where they grew up. They do all that surrounded by a cast of stars in cameo and pursed by every type of law enforcement or crooks one can imagine. It's still today the most popular and succesful movie based off some sort of SNL skid. Also if you wonder why Carrie Fisher was in the movie, well that's because she was the guest host on April 22 1978 on SNL when the band made it's debut as a musical guest.

tried to watch three horror films tonight. apparently i also picked three of the worst films to try and watch and only was able to finish one, which may have been the worst, because of how terrifically terrible it became...

first up..!

Teeth - N/A - didn't finish. watch 60 minutes which was 60 minutes too much

a girl who has a vagina with teeth.

sounded like it could have been a hilariously dark comedy / horror along the lines of a "Slither" type of film.

but it certain wasn't

absolutely dreadful. this was in theaters too! and had the feel of a direct to video feel. the main female was atrocious as the "promise ring virgin" who fears her own vagina as she realizes it has teeth and chomps off fingers and wieners in violently blood fashion.

i was expecting dumb but entertaining, Teeth was definitely dumb but certainly not entertaining

hmm... maybe like "The Cabin in the Woods"?

absolutely not

i'm a big fan of "documentary" films, but when the film starts with pictures of the cast saying "so and so playing Alex" and then says, "written and directed by someone you have never heard of and never will" it kind of takes the spookiness away. of course when you have horrible dialogue such as, "when you disrespect my friends you're also disrespecting me!" i suddenly feel like i'm on the sight of a g*ddamn Dr. Phil episode

decided not to waste my time.

Deadgirl - 1/5

two friends drink beers in a gigantic abandoned insane asylum and find a "dead" girl tied up in a basement sewer tunnel.

so like all logical 17 year olds, one decides to make her his sex slave and rape her repeatedly for days on end.

oh, and she can be killed and comes back to life, so there's that. she's a zombie of sorts.

just the kind of thing you wanna put your wiener into right!?!?!



but you don't get sick or anything, only if she bites you. makes sense...

and then there is a crazy Resident Evil style dog for no reason.

and some crazy tough meth head who two guys try to kidnap at a gas station that apparently has no one working, yet somehow you go inside and pay for gas.

and then more people catch wind of the "dead" girl and also rape her.

1 star because the guy who played JT had some solid acting moments in all his psychotic, zombie-banging free time.

all in all, one of the dumbest films i have ever painfully sat through, although Teeth would also be on this list if i would have finished it.

oh and the ending is horrid. the main character is the only one with a conscience and the ending essentially says, "nope. he's just as perverted as everyone else in this film". nice touch!

The trailers definitely caught my attention, but believe it or not, I was keeping my expectations. Glad to hear that it's exceeding expectations.

I'll probably nab it on home video; I just haven't been in a cinema-going mood these days.
