Or he could just return them and break even or charge 50 and make a smaller profit. Even with this news I still see them going for like 70 to 80 on average with a few that have sold for 100.

This: is an apples-to-apples comparison of the BD and the HD transfer being shown via streaming. Frankly, it's a stunning difference, and I think requires someone in authority to weigh in... the two transfers are (pun fully intended) night and day. And, while I didn't work on the film, I have a pretty good guess as to which one is closer to correct. |

My copy will arrive today, but I'm undecided as to whether I will see for myself without first waiting for TT to say something more about it. I think there is plenty of evidence here that I don't need to see for myself, to know something is terribly wrong here. I'm not one of these people that is disappointed it doesn't look like it used to because I've never seen this movie before. Instead I'm a person who looks at the images and says, wow, that's terrible film-making, in some you can barely even see the actors' faces, when clearly you were supposed to be able to -- which is kind of a no-no in drama, wouldn't you say? |

I can't believe this is still being argued over..........either Tom Savini, George Romero or who ever did the Cinematography should have signed this off, if they have not it is faulted and therefore will or should be replaced.......if not return it for a refund. In the mean time lets all wait and see.

And of course, there's the separate issue that Sony may or may not reply to them with who approved and initiated any change. Suppose Romero happened to sign of on this a few years back? - highly unlikely but a big WHOOPS if that or something similar happens. In the meantime, TT takes the brunt of unfair and unfounded criticism. |

Sony's home video offices are located in California and their day is just beginning. I wouldn't imagine we get a definitive answer until tomorrow at the very earliest, if Sony attempts to publicly explain the change in color correction. It's very possible they keep quiet and say nothing, at least to public sources.

As stated, Twilight Time should have some sort of quality control over their product, even if the disc isn't authored in house. The comparisons to "Wal-Mart" or "DirecTV" are absolutely absurd. They do have a hand in the finished product.
Are they entirely to blame? No. But they are still responsible for their product. And to those saying that the screencaps aren't a 100% accurate representation of the disc, that's maybe true. However, there is no denying that the film is considerably darker and that there is something wrong here. The missing audio cue, the lack-of-magnets, BFD. But this is something that affects a significant portion of the film. Blu-ray is supposed to provide the highest quality presentation available, and this release is not that. That said, Twilight Time has said they are looking into the issue. At this point, all we can do is wait and see how they handle the situation. If they issue replacements, no harm done. If not, then they've just buried the film in the ground for the next three years. We'll see what happens. |

I doubt Sony will do anything. We already know the film is a very low priority for Sony by the very fact that they passed it on to TT. I don't see them putting any resources towards fixing this issue, at least no time soon. Perhaps in 3 years, if it ever gets a wide release, we'll see a proper transfer.

My gut tells me Sony will never want to touch this title again. And Twilight Time will think twice about touching any of the horror titles in Sony's catalog. Now they will probably sit in Sony's vault unseen.... forever! ![]() Last edited by thephantomcat; 10-01-2012 at 04:59 PM. |
