For what its worth, I'm gonna try to take the Best Buy ad into Target and try to get a "low price promise". It really is worth a shot.

Sorry I know it's been answered but judging by pics provided the 'Target' collectors edition dies not look like it provides a slip case within a slip box.
I hope I'm wrong as am a slip cover fiend!

Yes, it's just a slipbox... no slipcover inside, and if you're slipcover friend, why don't you get the regular version? It comes with slipcover...

Couple things I noticed while watching the documentary

1: Lindelof downplaying his involvement, saying he just wrote what Ridley told him to. He did have to figure out how the characters got into the situation described by Ridley (leading to all the major problems in the script no doubt)

2. Studio involvement (less Aliens, more Engineers)

3. Ridley wanting to create a "sellable" product

4. All concept designs were miles better than the final product.

Probably a question asked ad nauseam by now, but is the film still the original theatrical length with all deleted/extended scenes included as a bonus somewhere? As I can remember a great deal of confusion and speculation about this I was curious.

Exactly. I spend $8 on gum and soda easy - it's nothing. That Target exclusive is by far the best-looking design and I'll be camping out by my nearest store on Tuesday to grab this and that E.T. steelbook (and if I'm lucky the Bond titles). It's Super Tuesday!

Yes the film is as it was in the cinema but there are 30+ minutes of deleted scenes on the disc.

def gettin the 3d version for the extra scenes. don't understand the hate nor the confusing of plot. anyone who really understands the alien "universe" would know right away how it all fit together, and quite nicely i might add. but i am biased, i absolutely loved the movie (maybe because of the movie's own love of lawrence of arabia!! haha)

my ONE reservation is that we all buy the 3d version for 19 bucks... and then next summer a directors cut comes out. that'll annoy me. and we ALL know it's coming. Ridley Scott doesn't know how to make a non-director's cut movie, and usually they are better (kingdom of heaven..)

gotcha, thanks for your response.

i can't believe a movie of this nature, of this scale doesn't get a steelbook, yet, i have one for Hot Fuzz! not knocking the fuzz either, damn good movie and funny as shit too. i'm just saying, i can't believe that the "P" funk isn't getting the steel treatment or even a digibook.

don't these people know there is a hugh market for such things; does nobody read these threads but us?!?

I love the photos I've seen of the UK steelbook for Prometheus. I couldn't find it for sale on amazon UK. I do not know who is selling it or even if they ship to the USA.

I am still on the fence about which 3D edition to pick-up next Tuesday: Target or Best Buy.

So, the main difference between Amazon and the Target exclusive is the art book only?

I have my pre-order at Amazon right now, but I am just wondering if I should go ahead and buy it at Target instead.

Input will be highly appreciated!

Yes, the little art book and a slipcover instead of a slipcase.

Or is it the other way around? I don't even know anymore.

Thanks a lot for your quick response!

I did check at the Target site and there was not information available on what is included on the 3D version. Do you have a link to the Target exclusive? I'm thinking on cancel my Amazon pre-order and grab the Target exclusive instead.

BTW - nice avatar, I just watched Cabin in the Woods yesterday......I wasn't expecting much of that movie, but I liked a lot. Bass is strong on this one....
