I love this one too, in my opinion it is one of the best remakes ever and although blasphemy I would say it's even better then the original.

I have now heard that a few times. This is why typically when I watch a movie where there is a remake and I haven't seen the original either I don't feel nearly dissapointed if I watch the newest first. I can see it for what it is insted of comparing it to the original.

Hope you like it. It's one of my favorites, and easily the biggest influence on me, filmmaking-wise.

Im sorry u didnt like Jeepers Creepers more (based on your skull rating) but from your review u seemed to have enjoyed it a great deal so who knows. I think its a great flick in my book. Got Em!!
i did enjoy it, but the characters constant moaning, fighting and whining (great for siblings, so i give it props for that, but as just watching a film it got annoying) kind of ruined the film for me. but man oh man, the
[Show spoiler]human sewed together cave
was soooo dark and gruesome!

I was fully expecting that one to suck. But it wasn't too bad. Not great. But a nice surprise at least considering what my expectations were. You're right, the movie did go by fast.

I'm jealous. I wish I could watch it again for the 1st time.

Sometimes I think it would be nice if we could just have a list of our favorites written down and then just erase our memories of those movies, and watch them all again, for the first time.

Hey, would it count as a horror movie???
Very nice. My folks used to collect LDs, but never anything like this.

I consider "The Cell" horror, certainly (even if it is part sci-fi, part thriller, part fantasy, etc). I got a Blu-Ray copy myself.

Last night was Planet Terror

I had the pleasure of seeing Grindhouse in theaters, and ever since, every viewing of Planet Terror/Death Proof/Grindhouse outside of the big screen has been a slight disappointment. Regardless, I always go in with a grin and anticipate so many different parts, which makes it just that much fun even through multiple viewings. In all honesty, aside from some tiny gripes here and there, I am so happy I got to get a Grindhouse experience (complete with drug-using squatters in the theater!***) in my generation, a few decades past the prime.

*** That was a lie.

Tonight is either going to be Bird with the Crystal Plumage or PIN. Anybody want to choose for me? Most of the films I am watching I've already seen, but the lady hasn't, so it's wonderful to show her my favorites.

10/05 Smiley (2012) - This is terrible in almost every way: the acting, the directing, even down to the editing was awful. The premise was really stupid, but the twist ending helped out a little bit. It annoyed me that they were constantly using jump scenes. The only reason I watched this was because I am a fan of Toby Turner (aka Tobuscus), and even though he's barely in it, the scenes he are in are truly the best. The guy that played the professor was great, and his scenes were really good.

10/06 Piranha (2010) - This is simply meant to be a fun movie, and it definitely succeeded at that. It had some great actors in it like Elizabeth Shue and Adam Scott. I'll probably check out DD, but I'm willing to bet it's nowhere near as good.

I think Monster Squad is one of the worst movies ever made. I cant believe it has such a following. The only redeeming quality about the movie is the costumes and make up

I pity you for disliking such a fun and innocent film like Monster Squad so much.

I thought the Monster Squad was alright. Probably would have liked it better if I grew up with it or something, but as it is, it has no nostalgic value for me.

I feel like a fifth grader wrote Monster Squad. Three coffins fall out of a airplane and conveniently land in a swamp that the Creature from the black lagoon inhabits. Im not being nit picky either, the whole movie is like that. I dont mind silly movies, but just give me a little intelligence.

Yep. I agree with CZAR. I loved it. It was fun, over the top, lots of gore... pretty much right what Adam Green intended to make, and he delivered. Since you didn't like it, I would say that style of movie is probably not for you. I'm not saying it's one of the best ever. But it's pretty good IMO.

A friend of mind told me (before I saw it for the first time) that it's sort of like The Goonies, but better. Now, I like The Goonies more. But I got what he was saying cause it does have a bit of Goonies feel to it. I didn't grow up with it either and only saw it for the first time not long ago, and then quick ordered a copy. I think it's pretty good and has some funny lines.
