you should care, pathetic defenses dont make someone the best player in the country

Their defense will doom them sooner or later.

Barring a complete disaster the rest of the season Geno should easily be the Heisman frontrunner.
Just imagine a West Virginia/Oregon title game.

In 2012 (5 games + last season's Orange Bowl), Geno Smith is 6-0 with 2404 passing yards, 30 TDs and 0 INTs.

His level of domination of them does.

The #1 pick will not go to a pass rusher. It'll be a QB, and I suspect it will be Smith.
Geno Smith is now at the top of most mock drafts. Seems like Barkley is still projected top-5 and Tyler Wilson projected top-10 pick despite somewhat disappointing seasons. Tyler Bray of Tennessee is probably top-15 or 20.

A few mock drafts do have Jarvis Jones #1 overall. But I'm just not seeing a DE/OLB going ahead of all the QB's.

I have to agree. Geno would get picked apart by a team like Bama. And their defense would get dump trucked all day by the Alabama running game.

Geno's a much better QB than Denard, and Denard put up 200 yards. I don't think WVU would win the game, but Geno would get WVU in the end zone more often than he'd give Bama the ball.

A QB will go #1. If a team that has the top pick doesn't need a QB (like Cleveland) they will trade it to a team that wants one. Geno Smith is going #1, book it.

Yes, that's why half the teams have losing records. The SEC is top-heavy with 3-4 really good teams every year. But they also have 3-4 of the worst teams every year.

Same here. I think Cleveland is the most likely team to get the #1 pick. No way they'd stick with Weeden if they can get Smith. Hell, next week Weeden (a rookie) will turn 29 years old.

and those top teams dominate other conferences top teams, they win BCS title games etc....teams cant ignore an entire aspect of the game, like playing defense, and expect to be taken seriously

I'm hoping they trade the pick to us. Geno Smith would be perfect for our system!

I would love to see Alabama play a Oregon/West Virginia. It would be one hell of a matchup. Let's hope it happens.

they dont, its called dominating the line of scrimmage and running the ball down someones throat, not playing against defenses with ZERO nfl players on it

Last season the SEC had 8 of 12 games finish with a winning record and I think 9 were bowl eligible. Combined they had a 97-58 record.

In 2010 there were 10 of 12 teams bowl eligible. In 2009 10 of 12 teams had a winning record. You're reaching big time here. Not to mention these teams have to play a lot of in conference games every season. You can't expect a lot of 9+ win teams simply for that reason.
