Free is an odd thing to say.

Pretty much, because it won't be 'free' literally. You'll pay for it, indirectly most likly. As Sony will use royalties from game publishes, revenue from hardware sales, etc to actually cover the cost.

It's just not directly paying for it, like you do with Live.

Ok, maybe I shouldn't have said the free part. I've just been waiting for this for a while now.

It's accurate. And when you notice where the price points are, most likly, the part of the budget it's coming out of is prolly marketing, which really doesn't affect the [interested] consumer all that much. Just a little pet peeve of mine that's developed from my job.

Folks who get upset that they're charged for 411 calls when they don't get a number, but at the same time don't want to be the ones who have to pay for everyone else's prank calls .

It's kind of free. The only cost is if you want to "pimp out" your stuff.

Still, this has to be one of the greatest things ever released on a console--even if you don't care. And the fact that it's free to a point makes it all the more amazing.

Home really looks awesome and sounds interesting...

But...

Doesn't this just promote the growing trend of people becoming socially unaware and kinda, "hermit" like? I mean, why socialize when you have Home?

Interesting none the less, especially because it's free.

As for the rumours that MS is thinking about doing something ala home... I don't see it happening... They would end up charging $39.99 for the program, then nickel and dime you for everything....

Well, it's a bit 'more' social than Live, in that there's more than just IMing each other online. But, also a bit less direct because of that.

First of all, the boat has sailed. The internet revolution has allowed the hermit phenomenon to flourish in the cities. BUT for those in rural, unpopulated or inaccessible areas, social networking is a boon that augments, well, their social network. Home will just add another dimension to this.

I think my Home will be rated NC-17.

And the Xbox is SO bloody much cheaper because you pay for the cost of Xbox Live directly??? Oh, wait a minute... once you add in ALL the functionality which the PS3 has built in, it pretty much costs the same... interesting....

IMHO, it is freakin' free enough!

Hehe, it was a rant, that really had little basis in the thread, I concede. Just frustration from my job as I explained elsewhere, coupled with getting the new issue of Wired today [interesting articles that state what has been known since ... umm pretty much ever, but oh well :P].
