Default Highdefdigest gives No Country for Old Men a nearly perfect score

I agree wholeheartedly. This movie is a masterpiece.
Not necessarily recommended for old men or women, however, as it is quite violent.

whats total bullsh1t about this, is since it doesn't have a ton of extras on the disc, HDD only reccomends it. Whereas Beowulf gets Highly Recomended because its an average movie with a good transfer and a lot of suplements.

Great Transfers on Great Movies should always equal Highly reccomendeds, extras are not as important.

An average movie, with an average transfer, with good extras should not get the same recommendation.

I don't even read the parts about supplements or extras.
I also think that it is ridiculous to deduct points for not having bonus freebies.
I watch the movie then put it back in the case.

How HDD gives the audio a reference 5 star rating is beyond me. That's like saying Transformers on HD DVD has best audio of all High Def movies for 2007. Sheesh, give me a break.

Well I will be picking this one up for sure, but I disagree about not counting extras towards recommendation.

I think ALL BD titles should include massive amounts of extras. If this is a step up from SD, it needs to crush it in EVERY aspect.. extras included.

I agree with you 100%. Extras are good for film school students and people who care about details, gossips, etc. There is nothing wrong with having a lot of extras on discs, but the quality of the movie, picture quality, and sound quality are far more important.

I am cool with that as long as the "extras" do not jeopardize the quality (PQ/SQ) of the movie. Personally I never watch any extras with the exception of Borat.

Saw them all in the theater, and Atonement was the only one I didn't like.
The rest were astounding.

I don't see why a movie like this really needs a lot of supplements. So I agree with you. My only complaint is the lack of commentary.

For the current selling price extras are extremely important. Why are you pulling Beowulf into the picture ? Make logical comparisons. Enough of bashing HDD reviewers. Move on buddy.

Unless they are on a separate disc, there is a great risk that they will do exactly that. Down with extras. I want the movie to look as good as possible. Cut the extras.

I disagree....I would not pay more for extras. The current price reflects the cost of the movie not extras.

When studios start to market a title based on extra, that is when extras will carry any retail value. My bet - it will never happen and if it did, it wouldn't sell.
