Nope. Only the theatrical version of Alien so far, but it's Friday evening, and I have the weekend off. I plan on watching the extended cut of both Aliens and Alien³ tonight.

So what you think of Aliens? Think I might pull out some Aliens, haven't watched it since I bought the sub and AVR.

I watched the extended cuts of Aliens and Alien³ last night, and although I've seen the first two movies many times, I've only seen the last two a couple of times, and it's been quite a while. The first two are some of my favorite movies, but after watching the third one last night, I was really dissapointed. I wasn't expecting much going in, but I thought it was just awful. There wasn't any real tension, I didn't really connect with any of the characters so it was hard to care if they died, I think it was a very bad decision to
[Show spoiler]kill off Newt, Hicks, and Bishop
, and overall it was just excruciatingly pointless and boring.

Also, during some of the dialog, I thought my center channel's tweeter was blown because it was very muffled. I actually got up and put my ear to the speaker to make sure it was still working. It was just in some scenes, not the whole movie, but still. I also thought that the alien looked pathetic most of the time. It might just be because it was the workprint, but it looked like someone painted a cartoon Alien onto the film cells. It looked almost like I was watching The Flintsones or something.

At this point, I almost wish that I would've just rebought the single disc versions of the first two movies again instead of the boxset. I'll probably watch Alien Resurrection in the next day or two, and I really don't see how it could be any worse than the third one.

I really like the first two about the same for different reasons. I think of Alien as more of a slow-burn horror/thriller, and Aliens as more of a sci-fi/action movie. IMO, they're both awesome.

It's not because of David Fincher either, as I consider Se7en, Fight Club, and Zodiac some of my favorite films, I just thought Alien³ was a boring mess.

I watched the Assembly Cut. I just didn't enjoy it at all. I really wanted to enjoy it, but didn't. After watching it last night, I read a little about it online, and apparently David Fincher has completely disowned it. He was the only director that chose not to participate in the Alien Anthology set.

I hadn't seen 3 or 4 in years before watching 3 last night, and I'll probably watch 4 in the next couple of days.
Wish me luck!

Oh I'm sorry I should not have jump the gun on that. Maybe you will find the last installment to your liking.

No worries Al.

I've seen them all before, but it's been a while since I'd seen the last two. I did have the first two on BD, before I had to sell off a lot of my movies. It wasn't by accident that I only bought the first two last time around. I just thought I would give 3 & 4 another chance this time, and so far I'm thinking that I should've just re-bought the first two again.

That looks like it would be so bad that it's awesome, or so bad that it's awful.

I'm just watching tv and being lazy.

That movie looks like it may be just a step above Zombie Strippers, one of the first BDs I rented. So glad I didn't buy it.

I haven't seen either one. I really like certain "bad" movies, but I'm very selective of the ones I like. I really liked Planet Terror a lot.

On another note, while I consider Alien and Aliens some of my absolute favorite movies of all time , I didn't care for 3 at all. My review is in post 2426.
