Well, they sure don't need to use the same actor for both. Not that I think it's a problem, but he didn't look the least bit believable to me in this.

My 2D copy exhibited macro-blocking and several other issues depending on where I was trying to play it. I didn't bother getting my copy exchanged. Just ripped a movie only copy (uncompressed with chapters retained and primary audio track) to BD-RDL which plays back perfectly in my Sony Blu-ray changer, PS3, and laptop which has both an internal and external Blu-ray drive. Don't care about all the bells and whistles that come with the original disc or even having the menus for that matter. So long as I can watch the main feature in the best audio/video quality possible and without interruption I'm good to go.
I'm finally watching mine and it just did a multi-colored pixelation thing at 1:05:39 and it won't stop. I guess I may have to take it back tomorrow.

Well, exchanged mine and though I got a good copy until it started pixelating again about 15 minutes before the end of the movie.

Called FOX. Apparently their fix is for me to delete all the BD Data on my player. It worked, but I shouldn't have to do that.

I would disagree with you. I think it's vital that a player plays the same character, young and old. The only exception is when the character is a child and adult.

Saying that, some films didn't translate well when using the same character and making them "older" with prosthetics and makeup. For example, Joseph Levitt-Gordon's character in "Looper." All I could think was "wtf did they do to his face?" Bruce Willis was unconvincing (looks wise) as an older character.

But back to the topic, I think Guy Pearce played Peter Weyland's character to a T. And I think had Scott wanted to portrayed Weyland's character in his youth, I think a younger actor had to be suffice.

I do agree with you that Christopher Plummer would have been delightful. But Pearce did a remarkable job. And his 2023 TED Talks was sublime.

Though watching the movie, I was rather distracted by his makeup and attempts to "age" him more than his dialogue or interaction. My mate didn't even realise it was Pearce playing Weyland until he asked me at the credits where Pearce was. He was convinced it was an elderly actor playing Weyland's role!

Just completed watching this in 2D I love it! I will watch it in 3D a little later on, having said that I did not know Noomi was so short.

and for the techies I heard the Canadian CHU time signal when the captain was looking over the bridge.

I think it might be Walmart, but they are going to have the 2d combo pack for $8.96

IMHO that's about what it's worth since it is missing the 3D disc and the 2.5 hour documentary disc.

Default Digital Copy code doesn't work

My digital copy code doesn't work. I've meticulously entered it in several times and no dice. I was successful in entering it into VUDU for the UV copy but iTunes doesn't like the code. Is it ONE or the OTHER now? It used to be where you could have both Digital Copy AND UV. Thanks for any response.

Sometimes it's one or the other. I'd check out the leaflet or back of the case and it should say what your options were.

Okay, thanks for your reply. I think I prefer UV nowadays. My hard-drive is running out of space!

And by the way, the box says UV and Digital Download as if you do get both. I'm not too worried though. UV is enough really.

Saw this over the weekend. Good to see that science fiction has returned to its glory, but no surprise that it took Ridley to do it. It's been awhile since I was entertained like that (science fiction being my favorite genre). Amazing stuff. From the opening scene I was hooked. Especially loved that scene and the scene at the end with the Engineer hopelessly struggling with the creature. Buff but not buff enough. Prometheus looked great as did the alien ship, especially the holograph scene with David. He had a great part.

Definitely will get a place in my collection, but will wait until Black Friday week to see what develops.

(Ugh I hate waiting for sequels to movies I really liked. I sure would like to know why
[Show spoiler]they want to wipe us out after creating us. What threat could we possibly pose?
)
