I have some sympathy with the ideas that people got too worked about this, took it too personally, and had too much animosity toward people that went with HD DVD.

But you lose almost all credibility when you say this:

This is a good point and something I have not considered.

However, the point I was making is that the products are essentially the same. Blu-Ray may have greater storage capacity and other technical specs that one-up HD-DVD, I'll grant you that.

But when the rubber meets the road, they're still the same thing -- a movie in high definition. Fighting tooth and nail about which one is better is ridiculous.

You don't know what you are talking about. Hd-dvd IS inferior to Blu-ray and I think there is a section on this site that documents why.

It isn't inferior because it lost. It lost because it's inferior. You have it backwards. The storage capacity, the maximum bit-rate, the availability of AVC over VC-1, the scratch resistant coating, etc. It's all there if you want to take the time to find out.

I'm not delusional. I KNOW the facts. So does Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg. I suppose you think they are delusional even though they have access to equipment you could only dream about.

And as for looking at movies done in both formats. You REALLY don't know what's going on, do you? Warner would encode a movie for the limitations of hd-dvd and then port it over to the BD release. They DID NOT re-encode it for Blu-ray. Geez, talk about delusional.

i have a slight problem with what you said. there are differences between BD and HDDVD. when it comes to comparison HDDVD is inferior compared to BD. To start it of, the 50GB capacity gives the BD format the advantage over HDDVD. HIGHER MEMORY CAPACITY = HIGHER PQ + AQ. So far i haven't seen a single (except for Pans Labryinth) which is a European release HDDVD that supported a PCM soundtrack. But with a lack of memory Many HDDVDs were stripped down to a certain point because of it. !st Gen HDDVD players only supported up to 1080i in comparison to first Gen BD players. Yes, i understand first Gen of players generally aren't excellent all the way, yet BD have proved that it is the SUPERIOR FORMAT FROM THE BEGINNING AND NOT TO MENTION WAS RELEASED ALMOST A YEAR LATER AFTER HDDVD, WITH THE PS3 LAUNCH.
