I was at the Damaged Justice tour in Cleveland Ohio in 88 or 89. I still have the concert program.

I still have my concert program (pictured above). I got to see them on Night #2, at the Long Beach Arena with Queensryche as the opening band. (December 88)

Metallica still is one of the best live touring acts out there today. I have been a fan for years now and they still kick ass. There are too many so called fans that dont support new music and change. These guys are older and have changed alot of the years but they still know how to put on a great show.
I have seen Metallica 27 times over the years, from 1989 all through last year. Nothing beats the old school hits but the new stuff is still fun to listen to. Metallica lasts forever. They are still better and can blow away many of the big acts of today.

Well, thats not saying much. MOST metal acts today can blow away most "big acts". That said....most metal bands blow away Metallica live.

There's a big difference between watching those Seattle & San Diego shows from Binge & Purge (they are far, far superior, its mindboggling how much so...) and watching them today.
I do have the Nimes, France blu-ray and the quality is outstanding. The quality on this package looks like it will be great to have for the Metallica fan. Doubt i would buy it, but will of course, check out the clips on YouTube.

Metallica will never sound like they used to. James blew out his vocal cords years ago. They still bring the energy and make great live music. Robert added some new life to the band. I saw the Big 4 tour last year and it was a hell of a show. These guys are in their mid 40's , and I still cant think of a band I would rather see live today. Lets hear some of these big acts that can blow Metallica off the stage. Funny I always hear and read people bash Metallica yet they still have huge live crowds and sell out the world.

That's not the case sir. Metallica, as a 30th anniversary gift, gave away the new Beyond Magnetic EP as a digital download to it's fan club members during the 30th anniversary Fillmore gigs last December.

Yeah, and not to mention the tickets to those shows were about $20 each. Good deal if you ask me.

I was lucky enough to get in on the Amazon.com pre-order early. Snagged it for $11.19 on Blu-ray, then it slowly went back up to $14.99. So, I'll take the savings!

Too bad Amazon.com isn't doing release day shipping. I would have pre-ordered through the MetClub, but their shipping is beyond downright ridiculous. A $15 Blu-ray would cost over $10 in shipping according to them. What a joke. I got lucky and scored the pre-order price of $11.19. It wasn't that cheap for long.

Possibly. Metallica just took ownership of ALL of their entire back-catalog. It said in their statement on their official website...

Quote:
Blackened Recordings Launches
November 30, 2012

We like to make it a point here not to bore you with the not-so-exciting business aspects of making and sharing music, but we're so psyched about our new adventure that we just had to tell you about it as we officially launch our very own record label, Blackened Recordings.

Some of you, who have followed along throughout the years, are aware that in 1994 we renegotiated our contract with the Warner Music Group, which resulted in a joint venture with our record company for releasing all of our recordings including long form videos. Per that agreement, as of today we have taken ownership of all of our master recordings and Blackened Recordings will be the home of all of our current albums and videos along with all future releases including the December 10 release of the "Quebec Magnetic” DVD and Blu-ray.

You may have heard us say it once or twice or a thousand times before, but it's always been about us taking control of all things 'Tallica to give you 110% on every single level every single time. Forming Blackened Recordings is the ultimate in independence, putting us in the driver's seat of our own creative destiny. We're looking forward to making more music and getting it all out to you in our own unique way.

Now, take it for what you will... but I, for one, believe you could see all of their DVD's (minus "Cliff 'Em All) headed for Blu-ray. Only time will tell.
