I was on Amazon.com in their hi-def section and someone posted a lengthy post about DRM. Part of what he said is:

"DRM is a system that "determines" the "rights" of the
"masses" to do things like...
-Play a movie in a machine OTHER THAN the first one it's loaded into
-Play a movie MORE THAN ONCE (rental scheme)
-Play a movie ONLY FOR a predetermined number of days/months (moratorium)

Essentially, DRM is a virtually unlimited, and re-configurable system,
that let's the studios change/threaten the long-standing tradition of...
PERMANENT, RESALABLE, FLEXIBLE... movie collections.

Thus far, all home-video formats have allowed the media's owner to...
Loan the disc to a friend or parent...
O, OH...
In the studio's opinion, that is "peer to peer piracy"
