Uwe Boll, His movies are amazing!!!, wait wait wait, i forgot to insert my sarcasm

Really can't judge Jon Favreau because we have not seen Iron Man yet, so i mean his other movies are good, but can't wait for Iron Man, i believe this will be his masterpiece

Clint Eastwood. I mean who would argue that by far, he is the most actor turned director with many awesome movies out there.

Mystic River, was and still one of the best story told, and very passionate.

Mel Gibson on the other, he seems to be more of a political/religious/freedom type of guy. his movies are very well done, especially Braveheart and the passion of the christ. Yet he doesn't really fulfill that what Clint Eastwood established both as an actor and a director. He was/still is perfect in telling stories.

You know, I'm very suprised not one single person voted for Sean Penn. Into the Wild was my 2nd favorite movie last year. Maybe if it was available on Blu more people would take note!

To be honest my friend. Into the Wild might be a good movie. I haven't seen it yet. but i don't know that many movies directed by Sean Penn. which is why i didn't vote for him.

I did forget about Robert Redford and Peter Berg, both of them have been successful directors.

I don't know -- Redford directed one exceptional movie with an astonishing screenplay (Ordinary People), and lots of middling boring films (Quiz Show is saved by the performances - as a film, its nowhere near as profound as it seems to think it is). I think Redford proves the old axiom that no director is ultimately better than his screenplay. Very special directors like Spielberg and Hitchcock could take a weak script and create a few stirring and imaginative moments here and there, but Redford is not of their caliber, and his lesser efforts lie on the screen like wet carpet. He's essentially a tasteful workman on the order of a Sidney Pollack. He's a good director, but not a great one.

I voted Clint but Ben Affleck should be on this list as well. Gone Baby Gone and The Town were both great films. I still would have voted for Clint though.

I have to say only Sean Penn and George Clooney are the only actors who haven't really shone in the limelight with their directorial efforts.

I've been impressed with others listed.

Mel Gibson for me

Easily Clint Eastwood.

Next would be Gibson and then Affleck whose directing career has been great.
