Default Blu-ray features you love/hate

I thought I would start a thread to discuss some of the features we love/hate on our BDs. We've only scratched the surface so far so my thread should live long and prosper.

Love: On some BDs when you select the scene selections from the pop-up menu the current scene is highlighted as opposed to chapter 1. Minor thing really but I love it and it makes sense. Can DVD do this? It seems new.

Hate: Pop-up menu audio. Why do they think strange/interesting/cute sounds @ 90 dB as you navigate the PUM is a good thing. Here are my suggestions in order of preference:

1 Turn down the volume (not sure if this is possible)
2 No audio (pretty sure that is possible)
3 Pick less annoying sounds

Love: HD audio and video (understood by all here, but still, it's just so awesome to watch movies in HD), pop-up menu, highlighted scene selection
Hate: Not so much hate, but can do without extra features. Deleted scenes are ok, but other than that, I don't care.

Love:

The fact that it makes the purchase of my HDTV really worthwhile.
Picture quality.
Dynamic headroom on movie soundtracks.
Proper firmware updates that actually make a difference.
Cool Blu-ray logo on start-up.

Hate:

Makes all the hundreds of DVD titles obsolete in terms of quality and viewing pleasure.
Difficulty getting Blu-ray titles in the UK, either in shops or online - loads of online places simply say 'out of stock', 'awaiting supply' or 'in stock tomorrow' when they actually mean 'we haven't got them, don't know if or when we'll have them but we'd like to take your money anyway'.

The Panny allows you to disable the pop-up menu sounds in the player setup menu

Cool. They need to get that option into the PS3.

Hate: how they cant except there is more problems with their products than the others

Love: That HD-DVD supporters think it is somehow clever to use our slang term for their format against us. HD-Dud vs Blu Dud (A typo admittedly, but more memorable)

Hate: Jason's English teachers.

Didn't ask for threadcraps but it's quite illustrative none-the-less.

hey sorry, pm me if you want me to edit.

this goes for both HD DVD and BD

Love: the picture quality over the weak standard definition

Hate: THE PRICE!!! (although I will admit nothing I bought was over retail or what most of you at these forums bought them at)

I am guessing from the poor english in your first post...

Not sure if there are any features I love or hate... I just enjoy the movies... and am happy that it is finally here.

For extras I like deleted scenes and interviews with film makers. I do like the extras to be in HD.

Yep, that sure would be nice...

Love: The amazing PQ and SQ / some of those great super-sharp menus

Hate: You still have to sit through those annoying anti-piracy threats and copyright statements without being able to FF or skip (that's one thing VHS is better than DVD and BD, but that's the only thing). And since I buy most of my BDs in the US I have to put up with the security stickers (what a pain).

Other than that I'd say my HT experience is just fabulous

Loves:
  • HD pictures and high quality surround sound.
  • The fact that I'm finally watching HD pictures on the HD-ready TV I purchased 1 year ago!

Hates:
  • My inability to find a Sony or a Panasonic second-generation Blu-ray player in the UK.
  • The ridiculous facing off between the HD-DVD and Blu-ray fans. I've decided the best way forward for me is to be format neutral and enjoy the many positives of both formats.
  • The situation that lead to us having 2 competing formats in the first place!

the security stickers on DVD's are much worse than the ones on BD's!....except for reservoir Dogs BD....

that movie sticks to the other movies next to it... from the security sticker not being peeled properly

Love: Everything about Blu-Ray except...

Hate: (as mentioned by a few others) THE PRICE!! I'd have a lot more BD's if they weren't so expensive.
