This might be something that requires a firmware update of your s500.
I have a Panny BD30 and it would not handle TrueHD off of RE:extinction until the latest firmware update. If they haven't released an update in a while, I would pressure Sony |

I think I have the answer. Unfortunately it's only an answer and not a fix to the problem. When I was reading your original post I thought I remembered that the S500 did not decode DTS-HD MA. I checked out the specs on it here (See "Players" at the top of this page) and sure enough it says no DTS-HD MA decoding. It also says that this player is not capable of bitstreaming it either. Assuming that info is correct, the problem is the BDP-S500 ![]() |

I don't think any decode them yet, but the panny bd30 bitstreams all and the onkyo can decode them for you. Easy fix! I had the same issues but when I got the panny it was pure bliss.
