Default Blu-ray's lack of consistency has forced me back to DVD... sort of.

I bought Prison Break Season 1, and the ending was so intense that I just could not wait for season 2 to come out on Blu months, maybe years down the road, so I bought it on DVD.

Ive never watched Lost, but I bought season 3 on Blu. I had to buy season 1 & 2 on DVD because there is no way I can start at season 3.

Watching Lost and Prison Break convinced me to give 24 a chance, but once again if I want to watch them, I have to buy them on DVD.

I know these things take time, but I really hope they get these TV shows on Blu sooner than later. I swore off DVD, but now its back whether I like it or not.

Sounds like you're a studio executive's wet dream.

They love the double dippers!

You should use netflix to catch up on your tv shows and then buy them when they come out on blu-ray. I think I might catch up on my 24 since I can never get a new release blu-ray from Netflix.

I have to agree with you. If the studios really want this format to take off and be revenue streams for them, they do need to ramp up the releases. It seems that all they are doing is releasing the new movies and are laying back on catalog titles. Sony has been pimping Lawrence of Arabia for years and still only speculation that it will be in 2009. Warner has tons of really good HD-DVD title exclusive, but still no announcements for those movies. Universal and Paramount are completely silent, and Paramount had several insiders say many movies were good to go, including the really highly anticipated Transformers.

Hopefully the silence and wait has to do with getting it right. I certainly can wait if they are lossless audio. The thing that seems exceptionally stupid is the sequels being released, but the other versions nowhere to be seen. Lost season one and two, X-Men one and two, etc., etc.

Yah, it really gives you no choice but to turn to dvd again. I wonder if Prison break S1 on Blu didnt sell well, and thats why they decided not to put season 2 out on Blu.

Fully understand, as I did the exact same thing. Just couldn't wait for a Blu release. (And the DVD didn't look so bad, either.) In fact, I just finished Season 2 and have started Season 3, via iTunes downloads. If Season 2 and 3 come out on Blu, I'll get 'em anyway. It's just a terrific show.

Yah, I got S1 for $35 used, and I consider it the best value by far of any BD I've bought so far. I absolutely love the show, Scofield is one bad ass MOFO.

The problem is that I have not bought DVD, and many people are like me. For instance, I would have purchased Elizabeth: The Golden Age on DVD, but I can wait until it is on Blu. There are a lot of people that still will buy DVD, but a lot that will not. If the studios wait, then they are losing money to a number of customers, and when they get around to the Blu-ray, the demand is not there anymore or it is competing with other releases.

Yeah it's truly sad though that Johnny Drama could possibly be way cooler then Kevin Dillon, lol.

I try not to buy DVD anymore, but for TV shows I never know how long they are gonna take to watch them, so I prefer to buy than rent. I have literally bought or rented everything on Blu that Im interested in, and Im at the bottom of the barrel, which has forced me back to DVD. Now I go on a week by week basis for whats new and exciting on Blu and the last 3 weeks or so have been really dry to say the least.

Default Same situation

I'm in the same situation. Was interested in getting the James Bond movies but don't have the patience to wait for them on Blu. So no choice but to get the Ultimate Edition DVDs. Will replace when the Blu's come out.

I did the same thing I bought 1-5 of the shield after watching an episode on FX to my suprise though sony bought out the rights to the show so they are re-releasing the show, so the fox version at bestbuy is 19.99 per season this would be a must double dip if the show came to blu!

There is also Zip.ca and Rogersvideodirect.ca which are both the EXACT same service. I've been with Rogers for about 18 months or so now.

I may have to check out this Canflix though - they seem to have slightly lower prices, but a smaller catalogue.

EDIT - HOLY F#$K... Canflix rents videogames as well. I'm only a few seconds away from cancelling my rogers subscription right now. The smaller catalogue scares me a bit though.

The only film that I have been disappointed with on BD is "The Punisher" other than that execption, I just cannot watch movies on DVD.
