I'm blind buying this show as a result of canceling my cable, for $22 I think it'll be worth it, it sounds pretty interesting at least.

I just paid $27.99 at Amazon last week. (I didn't think the price would drop any lower.)
I almost bought it for that as well, but waited since I had bought a lot recently and then later saw Best Buy's ad.

Now I put in my order for this though after Amazon dropped the price today.

Really wanted to see "Person of Interest" since it premiered on CBS. It's a blind buy for me but for 21.99 and J.J Abrahms is involved in this show. I know it's going to be great.

Cheapest place to buy it at Best Buy since Amazon is out of stock.

Now time to buy a great action/thriller show, NIKITA blu-ray for 21.99 too at wbshop.com.

Don't know, but Warner thinks it's a good idea to do combo packs for TV shows now. I'm still happy just to be getting the shows on Blu-ray, but doing this has created jumbo cases that are ridiculously delicate. My third copy of this is arriving tomorrow from Amazon because the first two were unusable.

No resume play? Doesn't this bookmark your spot automatically when you play all like their other shows?

Does the case actually snap closed for anyone? Mine doesn't, so the only way to keep it closed is in the slipcover box.

Mine closes perfectly and the case is just fine to me. However, I did buy mine from Best Buy and didn't have it shipped to me..so maybe that's why there wasn't any damage.

I had to get amazon to replace my copy too - pictures of the damaged set I received are in the retail forum under the "pictures of damaged amazon orders" (not verbatim) thread. I think the problem is the case is too fragile for the number of discs it holds. Even single disc Viva Elites are a little too fragile, much less 10 disc. I think the discs flopping around inside is too much weight for the hinge, as my bottom hing completely broke off taking a large chunk of the spine with it. It was busted in a couple other places too, but, very oddly, the outer slipcover looked pristine. I suspect the design is probably strong enough if it's just going to be sitting on a shelf, rarely used; but for shipping, I can only imagine how many returns amazon might be getting from this type of mega case. It must have something to do with the transparency, because dvd cases aren't nearly as fragile as BD.

I kept my first copy until the second arrived, so I could pick the best discs too. All of the BDs looked fine, but out of the 12 dvds, there wasn't a single disc that wasn't scratched up - not small, inconsequential blemishes mind you, I've seen ex-rentals that looked better than a few of them. And most of the scratches were round, in the direction of how the disc spins, which are the worst type of scratches for playback problems. DVD production standards have REALLY gone to pot, judging by the dvds in combo packs I get.

It was also odd, that both sets, and different quality screen printing on the BDs. The screenprintings on the dvds all looked identical, but the screen printing on the first BD set I received had a shiny, pearlescent finish; the second set was very flat tones of gray, more like a cheap sticker was put on the discs. I'm keeping the discs from the first set. Hopefully the difference in art is just because it came from a different replication facility, rather than there being some sort of running change, in which case I wouldn't know which is better.

Edit: Actually, I just noticed that the second case has a light fracture in it too. But it's not very noticable and doesn't affect case function, so I won't bother exchanging it again, even though I could probably exchange it on the condition of the dvds alone, if I cared anything about useless low def discs of the show that I'll never watch.

Interesting, I picked mine up at best buy too. Anyone know where I can get a replacement case for this? It bugs me it won't snap shut. Maybe I should try and exchange it at Best Buy.

Speaking of the disc art, does anyone else think it's stupid the blu-rays are gray and the dvds are blue? Talking about trying to confuse the customer.

I guess that's worth a try.

So far the season 2 episodes broadcasted already, I've found to be somewhat mediocre. (Thought the first two episodes of season 2 were good).

Hopefully the upcoming three episode arc, will be better than the last several episodes.
I'm watching it for the first time now. Almost done..I watched episode 19 last night. The show got surprisingly better to me at around episode 9-ish. Since then, the quality has been pretty much consistently good. I love that there is some serialization...and it's very much a perfect balance as well, as every episode still manages to be self-contained despite it. I wasn't expecting that from a procedural show...nor was I expecting the wonderful moral ambiguity of the characters. I'm not spoiled for much of it, but I do know a bit..and am looking forward to getting to the finale and first couple episodes of the next season. Will have to find some way to watch season 2 when I get to it.

My third one arrived today. The inside of the case on the spine and the right end of the case is completely different from the previous one, but it's not as if anything broke off because there wasn't any plastic in the case. I had trouble closing the case at first, so I thought maybe that was the problem. I just have to put more force on it to have it close than normal.

All in all, I'll be keeping this one. I'm glad I don't have to contact Amazon yet again.

Still, Warner needs re-think how they are doing these releases.

Received this in my mail today from Best Buy. Thought the cardboard box would be damage because they shipped it in a white bag. Which is the 1st time cause they usually ship movies that I order in a cardboard envelope thing. Haven't opened yet and can't wait to see it. Hopefully this blind buy dosen't disappoint.

I'm wondering what everyone's opinion is of the episodes in the first season. I've never caught an episode but the $20 for the set is tempting to pick up. Can anyone give their impressions of the first season? While I'm not a big fan of JJ Abrams, simply because I don't like the way he produces a television show, I'm just curious about the writing, the acting, the quality of the show and the quality of the disks and the packaging.

its decent enough if u can suspend your disbelief that a dude can run around manattan killing people at will without leaving a shred of evidence ever

Isn't that true of just about every movie? While I love films like James Bond and Godzilla, I had to really suspend my disbelief when James Bond ran up a steel girder in Casino Royale (2006), when the character defied the laws of gravity in a feet that only a superhero could achieve. Then, again, in Godzilla (1998) when four regular people outraced a monster that is hundreds of feet tall and even more when one of them grabbed a live electrical wire with their bare hands.

I just asked about the first season.

Well, just picked up the first season from Best Buy for $15. I'm impressed with the picture quality and it definitely does not feel like a JJ Abrams show, thank God. At any rate, the copy I got had a perfect Blu-ray case. I think the defective cases are infrequent and may have something to do with manufacturing defects than anything else.

I received my set in the UK today. Every corner was crushed, there's something rattling in the box and a Spider Tag had been on the case so it's been cut by the metal wire that comes with those alarms. Been posted in a padded envelope didn't help either.

Is the set 5 DVD's and 5 BD's? If so why didn't they have two 5-disc cases in the slip box? Maybe they were worried the DVD cases would end up on Ebay?

I'm a bit alarmed with people mentioning damaged discs, I'll open the set (which I don't usually do until watching) and check them and contact Amazon tomorrow.

I don't understand why my set has Spider Tag cuts in the box unless it's come from been on display at a store. Very annoyed!
