PS3 Shortages?

Well I haven't seen the 80gb ps3 in stock for couple months now. I've gone to numerous target/walmarts/few best buys and they didn't have the ps3 in stock period. Is there a shortage going on? I know the 80gb is supposedly discountinued till the mgs4 bundle in june...but any word on a 80gb replacement till then or shortages in general?

I didn't know they were still selling the 80g openly. Best Buy only stocks the 40g (that I know of) and they have lots of them.

Not lots...
We currently have around 80 but we've been under 15 in my territory for a while now.
To the OP:
The new 80 is coming in June w/Metal Gear 4, in case you missed the memo

I think BlockBuster still stocks it, at least mine does in the special Blu-Ray 80GB PS3 bundle

I'm in Vegas and I see lots of em.

But, there's two BBs by me (in a way) and others within a decent drive, so it's not a one store area.

Since blu-ray won the format war, there should be more demand on blu-ray players. PS3 is very good value as a blu-ray player and as a bonus you would get a HD gaming machine. An excellent one. There could be a shortage unless Sony has planned for the high demand.

funny isnt it, some do and some don't, just like blu-ray, my blockbuster near me doesn't have blu-ray. They use to carry consoles, ps2 and xbox, couldn't keep the ps2's in stock they said, don't know why they stopped. They haven't had any ps3's or 360's, but they carry ps2 memory cards, ps3 controllers, 360 controllers, and strategy guides for 360 and PS3 games, LOL

Most likely, stocking consoles does not make any business sense to them, however, they probably could sell accessories. This could depend on their customers, location, other stores in the area and other business factors.

my BlockBuster has been selling them for awhile now, I know it has been for over a year now and if I remember correctly they were selling them shortly after the PS3 was released.
