Yes. There is quite a noticeable difference for both the reference and the synergy series. Not that im dissin the synergy series, but as mentioned, this is the starter series from klipsch. My recommendation is saving as much money as possible, and bring enough money for the next model after which one you choose. Think of it this way. you buy speakers now, you want them to be an investment, lasting more than two to three years in the long run. Its all about auditioning. im not even sure if you've actually heard both of em in a controlled space. i cant emphasize this enough. heres another posting i placed in someone elses inquiry... https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...5&postcount=41 |

As you can see in my sig, I own the Quintet III and Sub-10. I'm quite happy with my setup. They don't take up much space, and, for what you pay for them, they sound very good.
That being said, you will hear a marked improvement with the Reference series over the Synergy series. As it has been said here already, the Synergy series is the entry-level line from Klipsch. It is very good, but it would be well worth it to save up for Reference series models. My plan is to eventually replace the front and center channels with Reference models and use the extra Quintet speakers(formerly front channels) as my two surround back speakers when I step up to a 7.1 setup. I know it's not ideal in terms of perfectly matching all the speakers, but it should be just fine until I win the lottery and buy a full Klipsch THX system. ![]() As far as subs go, you don't have to match the brand of sub to the rest of your speakers. Generally speaking, bass is bass. It's more important to have the LCR and surround channels timbre matched to provide a seamless transition from speaker to speaker as sound moves from one speaker to the next, and the Quintet system has that one covered for you having indentical speakers for the fronts and surrounds. Get the sub you like best. I would recommend Def Tech. I would have bought one, but my speakers were a gift from my GF(yeah, she rocks), and she wanted them all to match... |
