Question klipsch quintet or synergy?

which of these is better?

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...6&catid=20323#

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...44&catid=20323

and by the way...what sub would you get with these? i thought every speaker had to match the same speaker line? or is it different with subs?

and finally...im looking for a setup for around 1000-2000 max...is klipsch even the way to go? or should i look at bose, polk, jbl, infinity and others as well?

I've got an entry level Polk speaker system, and I love them. I haven't had any complaint what so ever. I can only image what their upper level speakers sound like.

I have a Klipsch system (see sig) and am very happy with it.
There is something radically wrong with the Quintet price in your link. The Quontet II is an older system, genreally available online for $300. This was my first system and it is very good.
The newer Quintet III lists for $500 at my Best Buy, and is much improved.
For a great deal, watch for Best Buy special which seems to run Quarterly:
Quintet III $300
Klipsch 10" sub for $250 (list $400)
Total $500 for a really good system. The satellites can be stand or wall mounted.
The SLX system is an upgrade, and you can use the 10" sub with this too.
Again, watch for a sale on these.
Good luck!

is room space a significant factor as to why you are looking into these models?

if not, go reference. you will definitely see a big difference, as well as better value for the money.

Thats my setup. Cost me around $1100. But that sub is a little over kill if you dont need mad features (wireless remote for volume and audio adjustments, different room placing options) they also make a 8 inch version of that sub thats a hundred bucks less along with many other lines of subs.

But for the price, I could just not justify spending say $1000 on that Klipsch system with tiny speakers when you can spend relatively the same amount and get bigger, better looking, room filling, and much better sounding speakers.

I would mess around with putting a Polk system together, for the price they are unbeatable in my opinion. The also make all their speakers in black too. This is just my opinion but since the day I bought my first polk speaker, Im a fan for life. Hope this helps

Reference Series.

you have
Synergy (their base line speakers)
Reference,
then you have
Heritage (including the cornwalls, la scala and klipschorns)

The Icon series would be the flat panel series, for those who dont have that much space and er... prefer aesthetics over acoustics so to speak.

They also have a THX reference line, which is an amazing set they use mostly in movie theaters.

I have the Quintet IIs, got them with the KSW-10 for under $500, and I am VERY happy with them.

Yes. There is quite a noticeable difference for both the reference and the synergy series.

Not that im dissin the synergy series, but as mentioned, this is the starter series from klipsch.

My recommendation is saving as much money as possible, and bring enough money for the next model after which one you choose. Think of it this way. you buy speakers now, you want them to be an investment, lasting more than two to three years in the long run.

Its all about auditioning. im not even sure if you've actually heard both of em in a controlled space. i cant emphasize this enough.

heres another posting i placed in someone elses inquiry...

As you can see in my sig, I own the Quintet III and Sub-10. I'm quite happy with my setup. They don't take up much space, and, for what you pay for them, they sound very good.

That being said, you will hear a marked improvement with the Reference series over the Synergy series. As it has been said here already, the Synergy series is the entry-level line from Klipsch. It is very good, but it would be well worth it to save up for Reference series models. My plan is to eventually replace the front and center channels with Reference models and use the extra Quintet speakers(formerly front channels) as my two surround back speakers when I step up to a 7.1 setup. I know it's not ideal in terms of perfectly matching all the speakers, but it should be just fine until I win the lottery and buy a full Klipsch THX system.

As far as subs go, you don't have to match the brand of sub to the rest of your speakers. Generally speaking, bass is bass. It's more important to have the LCR and surround channels timbre matched to provide a seamless transition from speaker to speaker as sound moves from one speaker to the next, and the Quintet system has that one covered for you having indentical speakers for the fronts and surrounds. Get the sub you like best. I would recommend Def Tech. I would have bought one, but my speakers were a gift from my GF(yeah, she rocks), and she wanted them all to match...
