The whole package was just a class act all round...even more enjoyable because I'd never seen this movie. And since that first viewing I've listened to Alex North's rambunctious score isolated, so that feature kicked it up another notch or two in my playbook.

It's just another of those quietly great TT titles that hasn't provoked a lot of discussion or blitzkrieg sales, but is nevertheless worth discovering as folks work their way through the collection. Possibly the release of something like Major Dundee will reignite interest and sales Blu Velvet, but so far BTB seems to be a middling performer...no reflection on the quality of the movie or disc though.
I actually totally agree with your opinion Rock...very well said .

I know some people might do a facepalm, but how can you tell how many copies are left? Beyond what they tell you for titles 500 or under in their emails.

Usually when there's less than 500 the "cart game" can be used to gauge how many are left, but this is not accurate for The Egyptian. For Christine the cart game should work because TT knows it will sellout within a few days and they cannot sell more than 3K. Thus, the cart @ SAE will always disclose how many copies are available for pre-order...or so I believe .

Bottom line, we cannot know how many copies are left but from some very popular titles that get a pre-order.

So, how are people figuring out how many copies are left of things such as Experiment in Terror? Somebody already said there's about 1,300 left.

They go to SAE, place (for example) 3,000 copies in the cart...then they go to the cart and see how many are actually there. I have not been following the discussion on Experiment in Terror (although I will purchase that title) and I do not have an opinion on the accuracy of the cart game for it.

Ok, thanks. I wasn't aware of what the cart game actually was. I guess it doesn't help that Experiment in Terror and Our Man Flint were my first two Twilight Time purchases.

For what it's worth, Twilight Time has confirmed that the cart game isn't accurate.

In theory this should show the minimumm number of copies still available. SAE doesn't always carry the full inventory so there could always be more available but there shouldn't be any less. However, some have even called into question the accuracy of the number of the current stock on hand. If this is truly the case then I'm dumbfounded how SAE could remain in business if they can't even keep accurate track, as something as little as, of how much inventory they have on hand. Since, SAE is a small online shop they shouldn't have much, if any, theft and they shouldn't be losing or misplacing a lot of titles.

However, some called into question the accuracy of SAE's stock on hand when TT, namely TT, announced fewer than 500 copies of The Egyptian yet SAE was still showing roughly 650 copies left. SAE has been quiet on the issue. That seems to be a big discrepancy in inventory numbers considering this is a limited quantity release.

EDIT: Now in my experience, when ordering a title on SAE's web site if I ordered one copy of a title then after checking out the remaining stock on hand would show one less. So it would appear to be decrementing properly and it doesn't appear that SAE is substract 3 units from stock on hand for every 2 ordered or something to that effect. I just find it strange given that they is no apparent reason to not display accurate stock on hand numbers.

Yep, right here, posted back on Dec. 6 when they announced that The Egyptian was already under 500 remaining, and yet SAE's cart was still showing 639. So it really seems off now vis-à-vis this latest update from TT's FB wall:

Quote:
"Fewer than 200 copies remaining of FATE IS THE HUNTER and less than 500 copies of each of THE EGYPTIAN on Blu-ray and THE FLIM-FLAM MAN."
According to SAE's cart just minutes ago, the latest totals for those titles are: 231 for FITH, 510 for TE (an absurd figure almost 7 weeks after it hit the 500 mark!), and 421 for TFFM (the only one actually showing a cart total under the thresholds mentioned, so it might be right, but who knows).

I think this could be another Journey and/or Mysterious Island situation where TT will be announcing "SOLD OUT" for these titles when they still show over 100 available in SAE's cart.

That SAE cart is just plain nuts. I wouldn't trust it.

This is the crux of it rdodolak...a slightly lower cart count wouldn't leave any buyers hanging, but a higher count could. This variance is erring in the wrong direction.

I agree ROclockCK. That's why I found TT's statement troubling and I would be displeased, to say the least, if I purchased an item on SAE's web site when it said there were still 150-200 copies available only to find out that their inventory count was inaccurate. I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one. Those are big discrepancies considering that only 3,000 units are ever replicated for each TT title. Sure, we could all purchase right away but as we've seen people hold off for varying reasons, some of which are to order multiple items all at once to try and save on shipping. Another, valid reason, is that some individuals don't find out a title is available on BD until it's almost too late. This might not matter too much for most of TT's titles but for some it could be an issue.

Whew!

I knew Bite the Bullet was one of your faves Blu, and didn't want to seem like I was dismissing it by calling it "lightweight". That wasn't a criticism at all; I was just describing how it plays. Anyone unfamiliar with BTB (as I was before purchasing) might miss the fun of it...not your typical western shoot-em-up.

Hi Guys, I am looking to place a bigger order next month when Christine is released for pre-prder.
Planning on getting Our man Flint, In like Flint, Nicholas and Alexandra, Christine and maybe Experiment in Terror. I havent ordered for quite awhile.
Do you think I am safe with all of these titles to wait until then to order?

Surely none of these recent ones should be selling out before then, I get the impression sales aren't crazy, like Fright night or NOTLD crazy?

It was announced that The Egyptian had less than 500 copies left . I like all of your picks . The Big Heat is an absolute must if you do not have it.

You're more than likely safe with those picks; nothing like FN or NOLTD crazy. However, if you're really concerned about them selling out before Christine goes up for preorder in 4 weeks just shoot TT a PM or post on their Facebook page. They should be able to tell you if they think these titles might sell out before then.

You should be safe. I would say to keep your eye on the thread or if you get emails from them since they mention the ones that hit 500 or lower in each newsletter, so you can pounce on at least a couple of them to keep shipping down if it comes to that. Again, I don't think it should be an issue though.

You can join their mailing list by following this link:

In my experience their newsletters are sent out a bit late so you might want to keep a eye on this thread or TT's Facebook page.
