Sorry to ask again but: when the extended edition comes out later will the announced bonus features be on both releases or just the standard?

I just read somewhere that the 3D version will be comprised of 5 discs.

1) Film in 3d
2) Film in 2d
3) Special Features
4) DVD

What would the 5th disc be? I personally am hoping that the 3D version is being spread accross 2 discs so that it can be 3d AND presented at 48fps. Fingers crossed

Current blu ray players and 1080p TVs cant handle 48fps 3d at 1080p so this is not going to happen. The current HDMI spec might not allow for it either (?). The closest you will get is to enable FI on your TV for the 3d version if you can.

It's the DVD version.

Do you mean the dvd SE? I'm sure it will be available everywhere.

If it's like the LotR blu-rays, they will each have different bonus features, with the EE having much more and better features.

Well that just sucks. It was awesome in 48fps... We need 48fps TVs!

The point of buying a movie on BD is to... get the movie on BD. The extras are just extras.

i think i've watched the EE LOTR movies 2x each since owning them and that's it.

i watch them more than the theartrical, but there are always parts that i skip. some EE material I like, alot i dont, esp. in ROTK

Wish they could come up with a technology where they include the intended extended material in the extras, and then through some branching technology you can pick or choose what ones you want in the film for your viewing.

I know this is nitpicking, but I hope there is disc art as well. Warner Bros. has become typical lately for having no disc art at all on their releases.

I agree. This film was already extended enough. If it was worthy of being in the movie it would have been in the theatrical considering they were avidly trying to extend the thing into a trilogy. It's not like the LOTR trilogy where material was left out because of the length. This is the opposite, they added stuff in just for the sake of turning it into a trilogy.

In this case I do not think the extended version will be a significant step up from the theatrical. I'm just getting the theatrical blu-ray in March and that's that, lol.

Me too, I'm just getting the theatrical versions and I just got the LOTR theatrical versions as they were long enough. My brother got the extended editions and I asked him what were the differences and he couldn't tell me. I would guess all but the most die hard fans would not even be able to tell us what the differences were.

Uh no, there are significant differences between the theatrical and extended editions of LOTR, and it doesn't take a die-hard to see them.

Um, a couple major villains have death scenes in Return of the King that are wholly absent from the theatrical version.

Why must the 3D cover be so damn ugly. I LOVE the 2D cover but I want the 3D Bluray but that plain cover is such a detractor.
