How would the Niners been awarded the TD if ineligible players were not on the field during the punt if it came down to that? It would of been a 15 yard penalty?

Also, after the safety. I was for sure the Niners would of called a fair catch (if that's allowed) insted of returning the punt. That last play wasn't executed properly IMO.

I'm not certain if you understand what I'm saying. Flacco wanted players on the sidelines that weren't on the punt coverage team to run on the field and tackle the returner if it appeared he was going to score a touchdown. If ineligible players come on the field during a play to prevent a touchdown it would be called Palpably Unfair Act. It is not believed this penalty has even been called in the NFL. This rule states:

Quote:
Rule 5-2-8-c: Penalties for illegal substitution or withdrawal … for interference with the play by a substitute who enters the field during a live ball: Palpably unfair act (see 12-3-3)

Rule 11-2-1-e: A touchdown is scored when … the Referee awards a touchdown to a team that has been denied one by a palpably unfair act.

Rule 12-3-3: A player or substitute shall not interfere with play by any act which is palpably unfair. Penalty: For a palpably unfair act: Offender may be disqualified. The Referee, after consulting his crew, enforces any such distance penalty as they consider equitable and irrespective of any other specified code penalty. The Referee could award a score.

I'm sure you'll be happy to know that ESPN considers the Redskins the best bet given quality vs. odds.

Gotcha, I must of said the wrong thing and didn't proof read before hitting the submit button.

What a turn of events if those players actually listened to Flaaco's comments.

Well, Ginn would have had to breakthrough. He would have either had an amazing game-winning TD or an incredible weird play that still resulted in a game-winning score.

Wow, even if it would work and wouldn't award a touchdown, that's down right cheating IMO. I was rooting for the Ravens (cause I'm a GB fan ), but had there not been the rule and they resorted to that to prevent a TD, I would have been pissed. I'm all for improvising and coming up with clever plays (like that safety at the end was a great call), but stuff like this is blatant cheating in my book.

That would have been HILARIOUS had something like that gone down, just shows how big of a dumb ass Flacco really is

Mel Kiper released his second mock draft today and he still doesn't have any QBs going in the first round. He thinks it's likely that a team with a QB need could trade down or trade back into the first round to get a QB (Kiper doesn't project trades), but he doesn't think there's a QB that's worth a top-10 pick. It's interesting to see how Kiper's thought process is different than a lot of mock drafts I've seen that have as many as 3 teams in the top 10 going quarterback.

This draft looks awful in all honesty.

Weird. Every mock draft I've seen has Geno Smith going at least top-10 and Marr Barkley high in the first round. Teams always reach on QB's. This year will be no different.

Thats what happens when you won't trade for one of the best QB's in the league.

Oakland is reducing their stadium capacity to avoid blackouts. Though, does anybody really want to see that team play?

Quote:
Oakland came in dead last in attendance this season, an average of 54,217 per game. That's just 86 percent of the capacity at O.co Coliseum, already one of the smallest stadiums in the NFL at 63,132. Not small enough. Nearly every game, the Raiders ran up against the NFL's blackout rules, which dictate that 85 percent of seats must be sold on the Thursday before game day. They were blacked out just once in 2012, but it was close.

CEO Amy Trask announced yesterday that the Raiders will be eliminating nearly 10,000 seats for next season, mostly by covering up Mount Davis with a tarp. Mount Davis is the nickname given to the tier of seats installed in a 1996 renovation, ruining the backdrop view of the Oakland hills that were a staple at A's games. They're steep (nearly to the point of being unsafe) and the upper reaches are comically distant from the action. And they've gone mostly empty, being tarped off for baseball since 2006.

It'd be nice if they removed Mount Davis completely. Has always been such an eyesore.

With how expensive tickets, parking, and concessions are and how good the picture quality is on TVs nowadays I don't blame fans for not showing up. I've been to a couple NFL games and had a good time but it's not something I would want to do 8 (or 10 counting preseason) times a year.

So now there'll only be 10 people showing up vs. 20.

Same here. This past season my cable company added the NFL network to my package with no rate increase. There's less reason than ever to go to a game when I have a great home theater setup and can watch whatever game I want.

Recently on sports radio there was a good discussion about the future of pro sports. One host made a good argument that stadiums/arenas of the future will be quite a bit smaller in capacity with more emphasis on luxury. I tend to agree with that analysis.

I would never go see a game on the east coast. Especially towards the end part of the year. I understand people are serious fans. And I'm serious about not freezing my @ss off in 20 degree temps. When I can sit in a nice warm house watching TV.

If its somewhere else nicer like Florida, Texas or the west coast states that be a different story.

The east coast is much larger than the Northeast....

Carolina, Atlanta, Jacksonville and Miami all play on the east coast.
