Default Surprised to see Blu-rays at Costco

Stopped by Costco tonight. Saw various titles, mostly $25.99-$26.99:

I, Robot
Hitman
ID4
Mr. Magorium
POTC
No Country For Old Men

and several more

Still a small selection compared to DVDs, but firs time I've seen more than one or two BD titles.

They had a very limited supply of Blu-rays at my local Costo. I have to go tomorrow there, and will check to see if they have expanded their section.

I thought Costco's prices were suppose to be cheaper since you have to pay to be a member?

The Costco stores in my area carried Blu-rays for a few months now, most of the discs were priced around $19, but selection was pretty limited. Normally by the time a title would appear in Costco I already would have bought it elsewhere.

From what I've seen so far they seem pretty competitive with Amazon's regular prices; the difference is typically ±$1. I got Crank and Lord of War last week for $25.99 each ($26.95 @ Amazon) and I saw Planet Earth for $65.99 ($66.95 @ Amazon). I'm interested now to see what they've gotten since then.

Plus Costco's always mailing out coupon books with $10 coupons for Fox DVDs. I'm hoping we'll soon see a mailer with a BD discount, too.

Thumbs up

I bought my first Blu-ray at Costco this week.

It was Independence Day (Best Buy didn't even have it!) and the price was equal to Amazon.

If it's a movie I don't want to wait for, I think Costco is my new Blu-ray store. Just their supply is limited.

I started watching that last night (bought it from there as well) and wasnt terribly impressed overall and the fact that they only consider So Cal to be Palm Springs and San Diego lol.

I saw Over America for $9.99. Not a bad price as it is cheaper than any online retailer has it for. Are these things any good?

Very disappointing, IMHO. A lot of the shots are not really HD and some are obviously very dated. Imagine seeing a flyover the LA Coliseum and seeing the Raiders playing! Glad it was only $9.99 at Costco or else I would have been pissed at picking it up.

If anyone has purchased this and has not yet opened it, I strongly suggest returning it.
