Is he though? You can definitely say he's a better regular season QB, but there is no question that Flacco is a better postseason QB. That is where players earn the big bucks. Flacco 9-4 20 TD 8 INT's 7.16 Y/A. Ryan 1-4 9 TD's 7 INT's 6.58 Y/A. Seems to me Flacco is the superior postseason QB. It's the proverbial Manning vs. Brady argument. Which one would you rather have?

Ryan has way better WR's (and TE) than Flacco.

If both were given crap around them I think Ryan would shine more than Flacco. I do think Flacco has a better head on him in clutch time (maybe thats cause he's a brain dead doofy half the time). Ryan still isn't where I'd want my franchise qb to be, but I'd take him over Flacco any day.

Since when did playoff wins = Romo's performance with WR's That has nothing to do with his chemistry with WR's. If you are going to call him a crap qb and WR's shouldn't go there because of Romo and then I give you multiple examples of WR's that have excelled playing with Romo his playoff record has nothing to do with that. That's an entire different topic.

Yes, Flacco has better numbers, but he also has 8 more games. And why does he have 8 more games? The Ravens D.

Yeah if you aren't asked to carry it all its easier, but its also easier with the up and coming #1 WR Julio Jones, and a stud borderline HOF (if his career continues to rise) in Roddy White (whose auto I have ).

You could poll every GM in the NFL and I'd be surprised if a single one, Baltimore included, would rather have Joe Flacco than Matt Ryan. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are of similar quality. Flacco and Ryan are not. Ryan's completion rate is nearly 10 points higher than Flacco. Up until this season Flacco and Ryan's postseason numbers looked similar to one another. A few lucky breaks one way or the other was basically all that put Baltimore over the top and Atlanta just short in this year's playoffs.

And lets be honest here, it's easy with hindsight to claim Baltimore should have just thrown $20 mill a year at Flacco months ago. But prior this postseason almost nobody was saying it. Even Baltimore fans I knew hated Flacco. The Flacco love fest only started a few weeks ago and will probably end week 1 or 2 next season when he returns to being a 20 TD/12 Int type of pretty good but not elite player he's always been.

And we'll see how great he looks when Lewis and Reed are retired. It's sounding like Boldin won't be back either. The Ravens have a lot of issues going forward.

I wasn't aware Lewis was an All-Pro last year. Can I use that time machine of yours to get back to 2002 lol? I would consider Boldin not coming back as much more damaging than either of the two you mentioned.

He's been an All-Pro 4 times (last in 2009), and a Pro Bowler 8 times (last in 2011), since 2002. Reed has been All-Pro 5 times (last in 2010), and a Pro Bowler 9 times (last in 2012), since 2002.

Boldin has been to the Pro Bowl 3 times (last in 2008).

I wasn't aware Pro Bowls defined greatness . I'm not saying they weren't great, but the stats you provided were worthless (not All-Pros). What do these prior accolades have to do with the season that they just had? One could argue that Boldin had a much bigger impact on this year's team than either of the two you mentioned. He's also more in his prime than either of the two you mentioned. I think Boldin leaving would have a greater impact than Lewis or Reed retiring, although, you could argue Reed would have just as large as an impact.

He's a WR with less than 1000 yards and 4 TDs, meaning he had 3 more than Ed Reed. Just because he's Flacco's favorite target does not mean he's the best target.

And by NFL standards, he's past his prime. And his numbers show that.

You could just as easily blame the offensive woes of this season on the remarkably bad scheme and play-calling of Cam Cameron. How did his numbers look when Caldwell took over?

In 5 games since the departure of Cameron (Week 17 and the playoffs), he had 29 receptions for 473 yards and 4 TD's. That suggests that he is not past his prime, but rather wasted in Cameron's system and play-calling.

Its looking like if the Ravens assign Flacco the tag teams will try to take a run at him. The Ravens may be in some SERIOUS trouble here.

Report: Teams were eyeing Flacco in December

Profootballtalk.com reports that teams around the league were already eyeing a potential run at free agent Joe Flacco before the NFL playoffs began.

Per PFT, there are teams willing to pay the franchise tag price -- two first-round picks and a monster contract -- in order to acquire the 28-year-old franchise quarterback. It's further confirmation that the Ravens ought to be kicking themselves for letting Flacco play out his entire contract year. To retain Flacco comfortably, they'll have to affix him with the $20-plus million "exclusive rights" tag, which will cost them both other players and negotiating leverage with Flacco. If the Ravens only assign Flacco the regular franchise tag -- worth under $15 million -- teams like Arizona and Cleveland will surely try to sign him away.

I won't lie, I'm excited. Yeah Flacco did great in the playoffs this year, but he is an average to above-average QB. 20ish TD 8-10 INT a year. Not exactly great numbers. Let someone else pay him 20 million, we'll enjoy the draft picks.

The big problem you have is at this time every scout is saying any QB coming into the league this year needs to sit none of them are outstanding. So what good would 2 1st round picks do for you?

I dunno. I remember the Ravens having an awesome defense and Kyle Boller as QB. If they lose Flacco they may be rebuilding on both sides and be in an even worse place. I will trust Oz.

After seeing what the Redskins were willing to give up to draft RGIII last year I would not be surprised to see a team give up two first round picks to make a run at a QB who is the reigning Super Bowl MVP.
