I had something really strange happen night before last. I turned on my bd player, then my avr, then my projector. Everything was fine at first, but after just about three minutes, I tried to go to the global main menu of my avr to double check all of my audio settings, as I have it set up slightly different for movies or concerts. When I go to the global main menu, it switches from outputting the bd image to the projector, to the on screen display of the avr.

When I did this night before last, it turned off my projector! It didn't go into shutdown mode where the fan runs for a little while before going off, it just shut off. The lights on top of the pj were still on, and none of the warning lights on top were flashing, and since it had only been on for about three minutes, I decided to go ahead and turn it back on.

Normally I run my projector for at least a couple of hours once I turn it on, always go through the shutdown mode to let it cool off properly, and wait at least two hours after turning it off before turning it on again, but since it had only been on for three minutes, I turned it back on and it seemed to work perfectly. I watched some concerts for about five hours that night, and everything was fine. Last night I watched Fellowship of the Ring and it was on for about four hours and everything was perfectly fine.

One thing I checked was the HDMI control, which makes all of the components work together by switching to the appropriate settings for what you are trying to do. The HDMI control in my avr was turned on, so I wonder if it somehow accidentally sent a command to the pj to turn off when it switched from outputting the bd picture to the avr menu screen? Needless to say, I turned the HDMI control off on all of my components.

I hope that it was just an HDMI control glitch or something like that and not a sign that my pj is starting to have problems.

I've got that cd around here somewhere. Haven't listened to it in quite a while though.

I don't think it was the HDMI connection, I believe it was the HDMI control, or CEC. I did turn that off since my problem though, and it was just a one time fluke (I hope). I watched Fellowship of the Ring on Friday, Two Towers on Saturday, and the first disc of Return of the King today with no problems at all.

I'm taking a break before the last LotR disc to watch Sunday night Fox cartoons.

As soon as my brother in law gets done with his work training/education he'll have time for me. Right now he's swamped. However i know the limit of the lensshift of my previous X3 and know i can take the feet off and then it'll work.

Like I said a while back, you could always hire a building contractor/carpenter/construction worker type guy to lower the shelf and mount the new screen. It probably wouldn't take very long at all or cost much money for a pro to do it, and it would probably be done the right way too.

I hate to duck in and out of here so fast, but I've got company coming over in a few. I haven't had any friends over, or drank, or smoked in about a week, so I'm ready to party!

Maybe I'll check back in here later after my company leaves, but I'll probably be pretty buzzed by then.
