According to this member, who I would assume has some sort of WM inner workings knowledge:

I would think the odds probably suggest just a 2D release, although it wouldn't be that difficult to have both versions in this release. I don't really care, as I'm getting the eventual EE to match this digibook, so it's not a big deal, IMHO.

Tbis is a pretty poor effort from Warner. I mean, the movie is out in less than a month and none of the major retailers have it up for pre-order. Are they just going to put it up last minute? It makes me feel like it's going to be delayed.

I didn't get a good look at whether or not it's 2D or 3D combo.

But in their email confusion, it looks like they have promised me the 3D combo pack for $22.05 after tax. ![]() |

Do we really need more than a month to pre-order something? Especially considering we already know the day that pre-orders go live, because it's posted right on the Amazon listings. I guess I just don't get the big deal. It's not as though if the pre-order were up today you'd get the discs any sooner. And it's certainly not a limited pressing so you're not gonna miss out if you don't pre-order the second the listing goes live... Last edited by benricci; 02-25-2013 at 04:12 PM. |

I'm not trying to make a big deal out of it, I just think they haven't done a good job at setting up this release compared to most other major ones. The fact that there's been confusion and questions for the past few weeks asking whether it's really coming on March 19th proves as much. Plus, I'm willing to bet most mainstream consumers aren't aware of the 26th pre-order date and are still in the dark of when they can order it. Last edited by MifuneFan; 02-25-2013 at 04:41 PM. |

Keep some perspective - we're the nutcases who obsess over release dates, pre-orders, bent slipcover corners and all the other enthusiast-related nonsense that most people don't give two craps about. So again, I don't see the big deal. WB has set it up just fine to sell a bajillion copies, just like all the other LOTR blu-rays... Last edited by benricci; 02-25-2013 at 05:03 PM. |

-They made a huge press announcement that the title was coming. -They released the cover artwork. -They provided all the special feature details and specs -They made a YouTube video promo publicizing the release. -They told us the selling price. -The Amazon listing tells us when the pre-order goes live. So what else, other than having Peter Jackson personally call you with the details, did WB really need to do to satisfy you? This is why home video companies grew tired of message board people - there's just no pleasing people. You do all that stuff and folks still complain that you're doing a lousy job... |
