what other companies really jumped on the HD DVD bandwagon other than Toshiba?

Universal has always been close to MS.

Paramount/Dreamworks was paid big bucks.

other than that RCA dropped support after G1, Onkyo who hardly supported HD DVD, and venturer who probably got a lot of help from Toshiba.

WB had royalties in HD DVD, but they led to HD DVD to its death, because they had royalties in blu-ray too and knew that two formats wasn't a viable solution.

Everybody else was in the blu-ray camp.

Nobody besides MS and Toshiba ever really helped HD DVD that much or was a strong backer of the format.
