The bigger the TV, the bigger the bug. I think the logos are misplaced because some Networks are still catering to the TVs with the 4:3 ratio, hence the logo being further out from the edge. I noticed this on all of the HD sports channels that all of their data and logos stay towards the middle and there are several inches of unused space on the sides.

I did some research on this and found that the network owners don't really care and consider the top 30 % and bottom 30 % of the screen as advertising space. Don't expect any changes for the viewer. Expect bigger and more obtrusive ads.
