<------ can't afford HD package for dish network we have a $30/mo dish bill, and that's all we can justify in spending...... I love my ESPN, A&E, History Channel, etc..... but if it cost any more, I don't think I could justify it. I love movies though If we completely got rid of "Dish" I think I'd just "Up" my netflix account.

I've got ESPN, A&E, History and a whole lot more in the "HD Only" package for $30 a month. With the above items added, I now have almost everything I wanted (except Comedy & BBC HD) in the HD only package, which means they'll probably change the HD only package to try and bone me for more $$$ per month.

Has anyone with dish (and on the east coast) actually gotten the above channels today? I'll have to phone the wife to see, otherwise I'll have to wait until tonight.

Disney for the Kids is all we were really lacking; though travel, smithsonian, & weather are nice adds too. I've had Sci-Fi, CNN & ESPN News for over a month already in HD though, maybe it's finally across the board?

Agree. I hate Dish more than I hate Lima Beans (which is a LOT) and as much as I want to cancel their service and go with cable, the HD Only package is just too darned good.

Edit: Thanks for the update, BTW. I'll just wait until I get home to see if we've got the new stuff.

yeah...its weird.. they mention SciFi, but, we have had SciFi HD for a couple of weeks now.....

and speaking of that....whats with them advertising HD and then showing 480p stuff and cropping it!? They realize the are just wasting their bandwidth with that crap, right?

Dish used to have the edge on HD quality in terms of PQ and resolution. Even that's gone now.

DirecTV is not perfect and I'm not here to defend it or bash Dish, but at this point...why would anyone really choose Dish over DirecTV or not seriously consider switching over to DirecTV if they're Dish owners now? This is assuming you want to stick with satellite?

What's the draw to come into Dish or stick with them at this point?

^^ That's a perfect example of some truly needless and lame limitations that I can't see how/why anyone would tolerate for very long.

It was all about the package deal with Dish and SBC/AT&T...it was the seller.

i'm pretty sure with these additions dish will now have more hd content than directv. they still have more hd channels, but dish has the content now.

so why would you switch to cable or stick with directv?
