Mostly decent show, but the acting is pretty questionable.

Same thing was said about LOST. This show gives me a LOST vibe big time. It might very well be the next big show come next season.

With JJ Abrams producing, having flashback sequences (which should take up more time of the story/plot), I totally agree with the LOST vibe. I also hope that Revolution develops a bigger following in Season 2.

Kripke (Supernatural creator) has done a decent job as creator and show runner. You definitely get the feel that he has thought out the nuances of the plot through countless hours of development.

Some actors outshine others eg. Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) and Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost), and therefore makes the acting efforts of others appear weak. While the acting never reaches the heights of critically acclaimed sci-fi programs such as The Walking Dead, the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica or Caprica; Overall, I felt the acting was sufficient for a network sci-fi TV show.

Revolution Season 1 laboured through some episodes midway through the first ten episode run, where it did lose some viewers. However, the second part of S1, especially the last four episodes (Eps 17-20) were above average and built up to a great cliffhanger/ending to the first season. The ending had a hook that has me wanting more. Will definitely be buying this BR release so I can enjoy Season 1 again before Season 2 rolls out.

Hope Revolution gets a third season, as so many good sci-fi shows don't get past the first two seasons and end without a satisfying conclusion. Eg. SyFy's Alphas & ABC's V (2009).

Despite all the negative vibes this show gets I enjoyed the first season. It had some quality episodes mixed in. It's hard with a show like this because of it's type everyone has a vision of how they think things should play out or how they would film it. I'm looking forward to season two with the direction they went at the end of one.

I won't compare this to Walking Dead because you can't but I will say one thing Revolution has over Walking Dead. Change of scenery. I was rather burned out with the prison and town by the end of the third season and Revolution was bouncing all over the place (I know much of this is creative filming but it felt like it)...after WD it felt refreshing.

This show had to be one of the biggest disappointments for me.

Billy Burke & Giancarlo Esposito.

Eric Kripke & JJ Abrams.

Some great advertising leading up to it.

I forced myself through a few episodes and just couldn't take it any more, I found it utterly dull and boring. It didn't capture me in the slightest.

With the likes of Breaking Bad, Dexter, Person Of Interest, The Walking Dead etc. this just cannot hold up imo.

I agree it really started off slowly and bad but by the end it was worth sticking with it!

The last 10 episodes were very good! IMO

Yep. I completely agree. Revolution Season 1 laboured through some episodes midway through the first ten episode run. The ending had a hook that has me wanting more. Will definitely be buying this BR release. Worth watching the first 10 or so average episodes (some standouts in the first ten) to get into this series. Quality does get better.

Look forward to what Kripke comes up with for Season 2. Should be entertaining.

The reviewer for blu-ray.com is way off mark. This show is fantastic and is shaping up to be the next LOST.

I give the first season a 4.5, not a 2.0. What the **** is he smoking?

That's like when I read reviews for The Vampire Dairies on here with anything less than a 4.5. That show is awesome too and always entertaining.

Opinions

I was kind of meh after about 6-7 episodes, but I'll get the BD once there's a decent price drop and give it another chance.

I ignore the scores for the shows themselves and just focus on the technical aspects and the special features. If I didn't, I wouldn't be watching one of my favorite shows on Blu-ray, which is the already mentioned The Vampire Diaries. Although in all fairness to Kenneth, that show doesn't get much love from many Blu-ray reviewers.

Once again, not knocking Kenneth, but I had already decided I wanted to watch this show before even the Pilot aired. The only reason I didn't watch it was because I wanted to make sure it even got more than the first season. I had enough of watching sci-fi shows that didn't get even beyond the first season. I still may wait to buy this until a third season is a given and I know this will get a proper finish, but the desire to blind buy this and watch it is still there obviously.

It's a great show. I've recommended it to 4 people and they all loved it.

I've been watching it through Netflix (Super HD/1080P) and the PQ is absolutely stunning at times. Really rich and vibrant colors. It's better than some BD's I've seen, so I imagine the actual BD version should be reference material.

I'm only about a quarter of the way through so far, but it's pretty good. They nailed the whole post-elecrtic/nature has taken over look. The plots are fairly straightforward and predictable at times, but with hints of a bigger mystery hanging over everyting.

Thank YOU!
I really want to know what film schools these reviewers go to??
And I know they are entitled to their opinion. I'm also entitled to look at their rating and go WHAT!
And it's not just series, it's some movie ratings. The disconnect between the review score and the Movie Rating from the membership is obvious on MANY occasions.

This site (and the other major home video site) has seen a slow decline in the quality of the reviewers. If it's a review by Brian Orndorf (who also posts on the other site) I don't even read anything below his name...especially if it's a title which has any political component. Kenneth Brown (the reviewer in question here) is slowly going down that same road and this review is much of the same.

If there was one thing I would do if I was in charge of selecting reviewers, it would be to eliminate those who write one review and post on both sites. Those reviewers are the ones who I trust the least (and since they are primary reviewers on the other site, I've stopped visiting that site.) It would be nice to have a body of completely exclusive reviewers for this site. Perhaps one for TV releases, one for catalog releases, one of new releases, and one who can float between the categories when help is needed.

Ralph Potts' reviews on AVS are almost always "spot on" with non-technical opinions. The A/V ratings aren't as important to me since I'm still using a 12 year old Sony receiver & 5 year old 52" Samsung LCD. Even so, unless it's a catalog release, the A/V ratings are something I just glace at. If I'm on the fence about a title and it has bad A/V rating, I generally don't buy it until it's down to the $10-$12 price point.

My opinion of the show: If it wasn't for The Following and Under The Dome this would be the dumbest and and most absurd show currently on TV. That is their appeal for me but I must admit my eyes get tired from them rolling with each scene. I don't care for enough for any of the three to purchase and put myself through watching them again.

Yeah it really picks up after the mid season finale, the first couple episodes were so meh

the saving danny storyline pales in comparison to all the other more interesting things they could be focusing on like the blackout, getting the power back, warring nations etc.

I usually don't like to pile on and disparage a show in it's thread, but you and I have the same bottom 3 shows on tv... at least, out of what I watch or have tried watching. I would definitely put Revolution above Under the Dome and The Following by a wide margin.... but that is not much of a compliment.
