Oh I didn't mean you, I meant in general. Ahaha, sorry for the confusion.

I was online and saw people bash on Franco for terrible acting, but they clearly missed the point.

I actually enjoyed this more than the original. Probably because there was a lot less singing. The Witch was what made the first film worth watching for me. I really liked this.

This seems to be a film people either love or hate. I need to go see and decide for myself.

lol my posts were deleted.

I said the movie sucked, because it did. But it was visually stunning.

Because it's trolling when you come into a movies thread and say it sucked without actually giving a reason why, which you didn't do until after.

Okay. Sorry I can't just forewarn people briefly. Poorly written, horribly miscast and stupid.

Isn't this movie just a poor rip off of Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland?

Nope. But like what MovieKing101 said, that movie is garbage.

I'm on your side here, if you want to come on this trhead and not like the movie fine, but you shouldn't come on here and despise it. Only positive mood comments, if you don't like it, at least give one good comment. Now I know I must've given one of the most "stickler" posts but people like that Extremis and MovieKing101 piss me off for

Wife and I got to catch this in 3D earlier today and we really liked it. Was it perfect? No, but we still liked it nonetheless.

Whilst Oz will entertain and is great to look at, beneath all the cgi sheen is a very poor film.
James Franco is entertaining with his slightly smarmy personality but everything else is just bad. All three witches are miscast especially Mila Kunis - she's way out of her depth here. Michelle Williams mistakes wet and simpering for nice and good. Rachael Weisz is passable but suffers at the awfulness of Kunis to bounce off.
There's a whole Star Wars prequel whiff about this film, nice idea that sounds fun but just falls flat and hangs onto to nostalgia to desperately get it thorough.
The original Oz gave each of the four "heroes" a challenge/story of their own that made us truly care for them. This film fails with these new characters - China Girl and Finley are so badly drawn (no pun intended) that you just don't care for them.
That's this films over-riding issue, you just don't "care" for any of them.

As for this new movie it's ok I guss. I'm not sure if I wanna add it to my movie library just yet.

It's funny how they cast James Franco thats also staring in an upcoming film called "Spring Break" where he convinces young Disney Channel girls to Rob stores at Gunpoint, do drugs, and have Lesbian 3some Sex as The Great and Powerful Wizard Of Oz. haha

I know its only acting but it's almost as awkward as if they were to cast a Softcore porn star as Dorothy Gale in an upcoming Walt Disney version of The Wizard of Oz lol

***Spoiler Alert*** Well kinda if you don't know much about the casting. Just thought I'd through the alert in for those die hard Oz fans that don't wish to know anything about the film before viewing it.

[Show spoiler]Mila Kunis as The iconic Wicked Witch of the west sounds more like a Valley girl trying to do a scary raspy voice and if it wasn't for all the scary green makeup her rendition of the Witch of the west would be completely awkward and laughable seeing that I keep hearing Jackie from "That 70's show" and Meg from "Family Guy" every time she speaks lol

The special effects were really nice and should look really nice on Blu Ray. The film also had some cute and funny moments so if I can get past the Casting issue I might pick it up !

I found this funny Crossover video of the two films on youtube and thought it was pretty awesome!

[Show spoiler]Link
The video should be in spoiler tags, too. I haven't seen the movie yet, and that video just spoiled it for me by just the title on the video alone.

I would like to know who else was considered for kunis' role.

I watched it this morning in 3D IMAX. Great visual experience. I enjoyed the film, a bit slow at first, I'll pick up the BD.
