After I said. "Every movie Sam Raimi's name is in some way attached to it that takes place between 1973 (Model year of the car.) to now it's going to be in it." You said. "The Classic is in movies that Sam Raimi directed, no just ones that he has his name on." Why make that comment because when I said in some way attached includes the ones he directed.
I know, and my issue is with the part of the statement where you include movies he DIDN'T direct. I'm saying the Classic is ONLY in the movies that Raimi himself has directed, not the ones that he co-wrote or produced or anything.

I heard him say the word Classic as in the model in the commentary on ED2's dvd/bd last time I listened to it when everyone else on it said it's not called a Classic.
Everyone else says that the car is a piece of junk.

Look, it's just a regular nickname. Like if he had named his car "Fran" or something.

I don't buy it. I think it's all a ruse just to get people to pay to see the new movie.

I don't think it'll ever happen, but that's just me. It would be awesome if it did... but I just don't buy it.

I wouldn't be surprised if all those sequel plans fizzle out eventually, but I also wouldn't be shocked to see them move forward with new entries. I don't think I'd really care either way, but I did enjoy this movie.

The whole cross-over movie is what Fede Alvarez has been saying. All the rights holders and producers (Campbell, Raimi, Tapert) do not sound as enthusiastic for anything other than an Alvarez Evil Dead 2. Campbell's not even all that enthusiastic for Army of Darkness 2.

Yep. I'm sure a sequel to this new Evil Dead will happen, but an Army of Darkness 2? Yeah, no way. If it really does happen, I'll be amazed. Bruce has shown zero interest in returning as Ash.

He's been talking about it in the last few days. He's the one that initially brought up ARMY OF DARKNESS 2 or whatever it ends up being called. And Raimi has even said that he and Ivan are going to try to write it this summer.

I'm not saying it will happen, but they've been talking about it more since SXSW than they have in the last twenty years combined.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see an Army of Darkness 2. I'm just incredibly skeptical it will ever happen, based on previous remarks made by Brucey Bruce.

I am also skeptical that it will ever happen, but my point was that he recently seems to have completely changed his mind.

And it is now very clear to me that you don`t have a clue about what the Evil Dead films is about.

This REMAKE is PRODUCED and carefully planned and supervised by SAM RAIMI, BRUCE CAMPBELL & ROBERT TAPERT, the original creators. Every little detail is carefully considered by all of them, to make an updated REMAKE of the old classic for the new generation of people growing up.

My bet is that you love the original soooooo much that you just can not admit that maybe this remake is MAYBE good or even on par with the old classic?
I maybe alittle harsh here but I`m so f*** tired of people stuck up in the past, bashing everything CGI or new. Grow up! The original is still here to be enjoyed.

Every serious horror site has given this remake a good review....And it seems that the general horror community does too......Why can`t you?

Ok...it`s fair to say you didn`t like the movie.....but saying "Alvarez doesn`t have a clue" is just stretching it a bit too far in my opinion.

Campbell has been on board for Army 2 for a long time. It was only until recently with Burn Notice that his enthusiasm cooled off. For a long time, Bruce has said that he's just waiting for Sam's call that it's happening.

Thank you, Abdrewes. I look forward to sharing my opinions on films despite certain people around here who love the first amendment, until people exercise it.

It shouldn't be the exact same film. If so, then what's the point? If it had all the same dialogue and story beats, then you might as well just watch the original film. "This films sucks because they cut this line from the original!" is not really a valid point.

And to say that Fede Alvarez doesn't understand the Evil dead franchise — when all 3 principals who made the originals were Producers on this film — sounds pretty silly. I mean, if Raimi wanted something included, it would've been included.
I don't think anyone wanted the Psycho remake treatment on The Evil Dead, but this film was completely unidentifiable as The Evil Dead. That was the same problem I had with the Rob Zombie Halloween films. They were completely franchise unidentifiable.

Sam [post Spider-Man] Raimi seemed to have made or wanted this film made to be just another one of those modern girl ghost movies, but using the name Evil Dead to sell it. They got my movie ticket, but I will not bother with the DVD (or Blu-ray).

The thing with this movie and others in this situation is that I think majority of people liked it or loved it, but (a lot of) the people who didn't like it are more vocal and obnoxious, as is most always the case.
Can't wait to pick it up.
I'm glad you liked the movie. If not liking the film and expressing why I did not like it in a rather detailed review is obnoxious, then I guess I am obnoxious.

It's like I said before, people only like the first amendment if they agree with you. If they do not agree with you, you suddenly become obnoxious.

Actually, I have been a fan of this franchise for a good fifteen plus years now, so I think I know a thing or two about the franchise. I especially can tell when the producers of the original classic trilogy has *****d the film's title to a modern girl ghost movie to sell movie tickets.

Maybe people bash CGI and "stuff that is new" because a lot of "stuff that is new" is crap. Films are not made the way they used to be. CGI is something that is good for films like Avatar an Jurassic Park, but not needed in the horror genre, for the most part.

It seems that you take my review personal. If that is the case, I do not know what to tell you. My opinion is not going to change. The movie was a mediocre attempt at best to cash in on a title while really catering to the modern female ghost movie crowd.

I am not the horror community. I am just one member of it.

The director had not a clue as to what he was doing making an Evil Dead film. I did not hear "Join us" one time in that entire film. Shame on him.

That is my story, and I will stick to it. If you don't like it, that is your problem.

Army of Darkness actually departed quite radically from the first two ED movies.

Very true. The director's cut of Army of Darkness restores the kind of hapless idiotic nature of Ash with the apocalyptic ending, but it does kind of turn him too much into a superhero at some points. Still it's terrific fun.

Evil Dead II is the real masterpiece of this series.

Agreed on all counts. I'd actually say that, of the four films, the original is likely the weakest, and even then is a lot of fun to watch.

The worst thing this movie does is to periodically forget that it's not an Exorcist remake.

Well, I didn't like this remake, but there WAS a "join us" heard when they first showed the cabin I believe when the group arrived. It sounded exactly the same as it did in the original movie.
