Does your 605 properly show DTS-HD MA and TrueHD now when trying to play Blu-Ray's with that audio track turned on? If yes, thats all the help I can really give. If no, read this thread (Specifically posts #27 and #30)to see if it is the culprit.
Also make sure you are using a HDMI v1.3 rated cable from the BD-30 to the 605 (most newer HDMI are 1.3 compliant, older ones didnt bother to give this info so on rare occasions you might get one that cant handle the bandwidth of the bitstream) Your speaker settings depend on your room size, viewing distance, number of speakers ect. I can only reccomend running the 605's Auto Speaker Calibration (Audyssey 2EQ) if you have the mic to do so. That is really your best bet. |

I have the HDMI cable from blu-ray to tv and multi-channel from blu-ray to receiver. I wanted loss-less audio, so I just did that....So confused...

BD30 > HDMI > Receiver (set to bitstream = lossless) Receiver > HDMI > tv If the BD30 can do, which I don't know if it can or not, you could go BD30 > Component > TV |

Wouldn't the multi-channel sound better? Or no?

in this case no, because the BD30 cannot internally decode TrueHd and DTSHD-MA. You can only get access to them through HDMI to a receiver that can decode it (the 605 can!!). PCM can be sent over HDMI no problem. you'll have access to all the HD codecs over HDMI, and much better sound.
By using multichannel with a BD30, you are only getting the PCM lossless track, everything else is plain old Dolby and DTS. Not the lossless variety... stick with HDMI to the receiver and bitstream the info. You will not regret it! Last edited by Slec; 03-25-2008 at 08:26 PM. |
