On the front page is there some way to get 'Blu-ray Highlights' back to how it use to be? Showing artwork of upcoming releases, newly released titles not just for 'Pre-Orders'?

Because countries like Australia don't have Amazon etc so what comes up for us are titles that don't have release dates in the database and the site automatically thinks they are up for pre-order. I tried to edit in dates but half of them aren't even on Blu-ray yet.

eg:
[Show spoiler]

It use to update weekly to newly released titles (This week it had Pitch Perfect, Aladdin, Roger Rabbit) and now its gone to that ^ Not sure what's happened or if it's something to do with my account settings. It was just a nice cool feature that let me know what was coming out every time I visited the front page.

Thanks

Any idea what's up with this?
Not all titles are automatically linked to their respective Best Buy entry. The title you gave as an example didn't have a Best Buy SKU specified in our data so it wasn't able to fetch the price from Best Buy. I've now added a Best Buy SKU to the listing. You can add this type of retail information using the "Edit movie" link under the menu-bar that says "Overview | Blu-ray review | Screenshots ...".

Update: Looks like there indeed might be a bug with these entries that is reseting the Best Buy SKUs to "0" because the backend isn't able to verify them being correctly linked using the UPC data. I will need to take a look at this bug tomorrow and hopefully fix it so they don't get reset. Sorry about this.

Just a followup to the Best Buy problem, we had a glitch that was causing some Best Buy SKUs to get unset/unlinked incorrectly, but the issue should now have been solved and we have auto-set the Best Buy SKUs using their respective UPCs, so everything should be working again. The only issue that unfortunately there is no easy fix for is that these titles won't reflect the correct pricing on their respective price histories, but at least we found the problem and were able to fix it once and for all

Once again, thanks for reporting this issue Jamison.

Being a member longer at this site and a fairly new member of HDN, I've really grown fond of their having the OP show up at the top of each page of the thread, instead of just on page 1 like we have. I've noticed a lot of the controls are the same, layout-wise, so it seems like the webpages were created using the same program or tools (not sure how this works so I may be way off-base). Is that something that this site used to employee before my join date or has anyone ever though of using that kind of format? It's just really convenient to scroll back up to the top of the page to see the OP instead of going all the way back to page one.

Thanks!

That sounds really weird, copy you copy paste the actual URL that it links to for you? Also, what web browser are you using?

Why allow us to be able to customize the site layout when selecting a specific country in either the search box, the Deals banner, or the reviews section causes every other country preference to revert to the same country, regardless of what we have selected in our personal preferences?
We'll look into this, stay tuned...

Ok, so let me see if this is just a question of misunderstanding how the site options work.

We basically have two modes, either you select a specific country/flag (no matter if it's via the search or best deals) and if you use this option you are essentially overriding "My settings" and using this country instead. This is a must as sometimes you want to quickly view other countries without having to go edit your options, this is especially important for us admins.

To get your review preferences correctly (US and UK) you have to use the "My settings" mode and configure "Show reviews for" to US and UK (which I'm assuming that you've already done), and to get your deals correctly (US only) you need to change your "Show movies from" to US and uncheck all other countries. When looking at the deals at the top after making this change, please note that it can take up to 2 minutes for your changes to get reflected.

Does this fix your problem?

I changed the language for the setting to read "Show movies/deals from" instead of "Show movies from".

The front page coupon bug has been fixed.

The priority used now for similar titles is based on the "popularity" of a title, which in turn is based on the number of Blu-ray/DVD collections a title is found in. Could you give an example of a title that we can look into and explain what title you are seeing and what title you would like to see instead.

It's a browser cookie problem for the country-selection, we will fix this soon.

Update: The country-selection should now be remembered for 90 days (or until your browser cache/cookies are deleted), then you will have to set it again.

Does it say "My settings" next to "Site locale" in the top right?
Did you click the Blu-ray.com [B] in the top right to change to "My settings" with the new 90 day cookie?
You have to do this one time, then it should be fixed for 90 days.

For some reason I had to click the blue B several times for it to take, but I have the correct settings now. Thanks.

The problem is that we're not detecting Android tablets correctly right now, so I've re-enabled the search preview/popup for all users until this is fixed.
