Default awful selection

When is the selection of Blu movies going to get better? There are a bunch of so-called "hits" released and coming soon, but not a lot of GREAT movies out yet. When is this going to change?

So by GREAT you are talking about what? Let me gues.....LOTR, STAR WARS, INDIANA JONES, TRANSFORMERS? So you are saying there hasnt been that many GREAT movies released!?!?!?! well you are entitled to your own opinion but I think it is safe to say that there has been alot of GREAT titles that have been released so far and I am sure many of the members here will back me on that statement.

welcome to the site though. try not to anger too many people here.

There are a lot of fantastic movies on BD with lots more on the way. It will take a couple of years to have all of the significant titles avilable, but it will be a nice wait.

No Country for Old Men seemed to be pretty well respected. Close Encounters is one of the best SciFi movies ever made. 2001 is a classic. Full Metal Jacket will make you think. Crash won the Best Picture. I will even venture that Superbad is one of the most genuine movies that we have on blu-ray. There are classic horror movies Halloween (the original), Dawn of the Dead (the original) and Evil Dead (indie classic). Ratatullie is a wonderful children's movie ("I killed a man with this finger" I love that line). Plus, there is Anime for that taste. A whole lot of good foreign cinema. Go have fun watching GREAT movies on blu-ray, there are tons of them.

i would love to see some of those "we no longer mention" titles on blu

but for right now i own almost 50 blu's, love most of em, some i bought just because the price was right, but there are at least another 10 MUST OWNS im waiting on a better price for, and i have had OLDBOY in my cart like 12 times over at amazon just havn't pulled the trigger yet.

i buy mostly movies i can watch multiple times or movies i want on hand for those times when a buddy is over and this comes up...."you never saw that, man, we are watching that now". that being said, i am an arnold fan and can't wait for commando, predator, and the 6th day.

there are a few movies i think 98% of people would agree "why is that on blu" but for the most part i think they have offered up a good diversity of selections, far better then what i had to choose from when i bought my first $600 dvd player.

p.s. noticed you are from detroit, i know here in southern michigan brick and mortar stores have crap selection, i didn't realize there are actually already hundreds of blu's already out until i found this site and started shopping amazon.

So... can you give us some understanding of what you consider "GREAT?" In my opinion, there are some great films already out on Blu-ray. What is it about a film that makes it great? What titles did you have in mind?

Your question/statement is a bit too vague to get a response which may answer your concerns...

I am presonally not a fan of Anime, but there are many people who are. My point is that there are GREAT films to suit all tastes.

Of course not, there are some GREAT films of blu-ray. The discussion should be why some are great (in your own opinion) while some are not.

Patience. Studios will increase the rate of which they release catalogue movies as the userbase grows. Studios always withhold their biggest catalogue movies until a format is established (same thing happened with dvd when it was new)

Secondly, taste is subjective. There are plenty of people here with dozens of movies. Just because YOU dont think a movie is great, it doesnt mean other people dont love it.

Lastly, you can expect to get flamed for starting a thread like this with your very first post.

My BD Collection has expanded to nearly 40 discs in barely more than a month. But I agree with the OP, there is less movies I feel like getting. I have on preorder in amazon.com 6th Day, Golden Compass and National Treasure, that's all.

Still waiting patiently for Transformers. Seems to take forever.

Try this December. I think it will be a HUGE Holiday SELL. I think it will have lossless audio and will be AWESOME. Until then, we'll be able to tide ourselves over with the blu releases and BOGO's and some cool films hittin the theatres. Indy, Batman, Prince Caspian, HP6, Iron Man, etc...

Ohh.... December is too long. Transformers with lossless audio will be great. Let's hope Paramount don't put out a plain DD track again. They are very fond of doing that and it ruins MI3 for me.

Yeah, but that was when they were still doing both formats. They had to compensate for HD-DUD's lack of space. Now, they have plenty of room for lossless and even a few foreign tracks.
