So, here we are a month in. Still waiting on Silence of the Lambs and Blade Runner. Think I'm good for a little bit. Have a ton of movies to watch before I order another batch.

Nice collection. You already have some steels I don't have. Word of advice get the steelbook poly bags. That way you can preserve the steelbooks and their finish won't chip or scratch when the steelbooks rub against each other.

Little did I know I had bought dvds...(boourns). Went out that night and grabbed the Departed. This time I made sure it was a blu ray.

That was two short weeks ago. All I think about is steelbooks. Today I got these in the mail:

And in two short weeks, I've assembled a small collection:

Still waiting on The Hurt Locker, Batman begins, The Dark Knight and both Star Wars steels...think I'm going to need an intervention...
I'm right there with you. I've been aware of steelbooks since I saw my first one at Target (New Moon), but I never really took the bait. I am pretty OCD and I like my series blu-rays to match and I didn't want to mix & match steels and plastic cases. My first steelbook purchase on March 19th. I bought Zero Dark Thirty and Les Miserables. I bought them not because they were specifically steelbooks, but because the artwork was SO much better than regular cases. I was hooked!

I was extremely happy buying my movies at Wal-Mart, but in the past month, I've spent almost $500 at BBY, Target, eBay (I hate eBay), and Amazon. I own about 25 steels now, and picked up Scarface, Clash of the Titans, and Resident Evil today, and Fight Club and the Star Wars trilogies arrived today in the mail. My name is Jeremy, and I'm a steelbookaholic.

I was a casual SteelBook collector until I got a region-free player. Then I learned about all the possibilities available to add to my collection.

As others have said, the movie has to be one I'd have in my collection anyway. The artwork must be nice, no foreign language on the cover or spine (unless it's the native language of the film), and for me, a DigiBook always trumps a SteelBook, when both are available. (Substance over style!)

Hi, Jeremy!

My name is Kyle. And I, too, am a steelbookaholic.

Minus the Batman steelbooks, I've accumulated these in about two month's time and have many more ready to order. And about four more on their way to me.

My first steelbook was the FYE exclusive DVD for Cloverfield. I never saw fit to get anymore because that one stood out in my DVD collection as unique. Same with the blu-ray steels for the Dark Knight trilogy. But now, all I do is browse for more steelbooks and have my purchases planned out for each pending paycheck. I passed up three $5 blus at Wal-Mart today. Regular blu-ray cases just don't do it for me anymore...

Or, just don't buy every steelbook that comes out. I definitely have to check my self a lot with movie buying in general, but I don't think you need to have an "All or nothing"-approach.

Case in point - I have the Django steelbook on preorder and I immediately thought - "Now I have to get every Tarantino movie on SB to complete the set". And then I sort of checked my self - wait, no I don't. I'll probably just get the box set when it's cheaper to fill in the blanks. But I won't stop getting the steelbooks I really like though. People need to chill with the "must collect them all" mentality. Unless you have too much money lying around

I use polybags, but that is just until I feel like bucking up the dough to get the good hard shelled ones. I would rather have them minimally protected than have nothing at all until I get the good ones.

Tell me about it...of the 150 some BD's I have I probably need to watch at least half of them. Not that I have never seen them before...just not on a BD transfer.
