![]() ![]() ![]() Godzilla 3D Blu-ray Godzilla 4K + 3D Blu-ray ![]() So I'm pretty excited about this one but I have to wonder... does anyone know if it's actually going to be shot in 3D or converted? Last edited by Deciazulado; 02-21-2021 at 12:56 PM. |

This is the first I've heard of Godzilla 2014, thanks for the news. I remember seeing Godzilla 2000 (I think that was the name) in theaters way back when, which was the imported movie, not the Hollywood reboot. Cool to see this will be in 3D, whether filmed or converted.
Here's an info link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godzilla_%282014_film%29 Pacific Rim also in 3D this summer 2013: Converted http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Rim_%28film%29 Godzilla 2000 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godzilla_2000 |

I'm all for more Godzilla. I haven't seen them all, but I do enjoy the original, Roland Emmerich's version, and a few of the others in between. A new favorite of mine is Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack.
![]() However, I wasn't impressed at all with Gareth Edwards' Monsters. I'm sure they'll make Godzilla exciting and give it a big spectacle, but if it's all shot with handheld cameras that masks the action rather than show it, I'll be ticked. To say nothing of dumb characters and political overtones. ![]() |

![]() By the way, about Pacific Rim... apparently it's a hybrid, the CGI stuff is just rendered with 2 virtual cameras while the live-action footage will get converted (Del Toro asked for the native CGI renders to do the conversion, otherwise he wouldn't allow the conversion). P.S. Did you make City Of Rott and Dead Fury? I got those a while ago from Unearthed (Along with a copy of Aftermath, Flexing With Monty, Black Sun and Mermaid In A Manhole) and I loved them! ![]() |

Godzilla in strong 3D has a lot of potential. Pacific Rim and its 3D will give us a good idea of the sense of scale possible with the monsters vs robots. Thanks KillerJuan77 for checking out City of Rott, Dead Fury. ![]() [Show spoiler] Thanks again.

It would be interesting to see Godzilla in 3d I read that they are trying to make it more dark and edgy also, I liked final war so I might just watch this one

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0831387/...ef_=tt_dt_spec I don't know of anything shot natively on Alexa, but I don't know what "Alexa plus" means, and I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on this. It does all stem from a proposed IMAX movie, that was always intended to be 3D, and the project just got turned into a regular feature somewhere down the track. But considering that the project was started specifically for 3D, it could lead one to believe that in following suit the actual feature will be native. Who knows. Lots of 3D fans are enjoying conversions these days anyway, and next year's conversions will probably look better than this year's. |

Y'know, the realistic approach. Not as in dumbing down Godzilla to be "a more believable giant radioactive lizard than before!", but trying to realistically portray how people, governments and environments might react to Godzilla's presence. I believe this is what Man of Steel is hoping to achieve as well. |

I'm not sure what it does but it probably involves some sort of tool to actually make the lenses of 2 cameras perfectly synchronized for a better and easier 3D shoot. Not sure about this though... I may be a film student by the end of this year but so far I can guess that it works for that. |

KillerJuan77, best success with film classes.

If it's native 3D, most studios new to 3D need practice time with the 3D for simple to complex scenes before they get onto the clock with the real set. I think that's why most studios skip the 3D camera rig these days and just hand the 3D off to a post production 3D conversion studio. I don't mind conversions as long as they're medium to strong 3D with minimal conversion errors. Plus many films have lots of CGI, which can be rendered for stereo 3D, saving conversion processing for those images I'd imagine, once the 2D to 3D people are composited in. |

The old Genesis console had a game called King of The Monsters 2, which was plenty of fun and a step up from the original's controls. Fighting game where you could rampage the city or map while fighting your pursuing giant opponent, with special moves or basic attacks. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_of...the_Monsters_2 War of Monsters, a tribute to Kaiju, was on PS2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_the_monsters I do remember seeing a couple Godzilla games over the years, but were hard to find back then. |

War Of The Monsters was one of the best PS2 games I've ever played (And having played Xenosaga, MGS3, most Shin Megami Tensei games, Primal and many others that's quite an accomplishment). It's a shame that it sold so poorly. Also, Godzilla: Save The Earth and Godzilla Unleashed for the Wii are the **** (Sorry, I don't know if uttering profanity is OK in here). Save The Earth with more than 1 player is absolutely incredible. |

Would be cool if they made an open world Godzilla game where you could play as Godzilla, a Villain monster wreaking havoc, or defend the city as a tiny human. Walking through FYE the other day, and they had a whole shelf dedicated to Godzilla movies. Slightly overpriced compared to online, but nice to see in a walk in store. |
