Handheld cameras can get out of control and twitchy, and as a result, lose a lot of the understanding of what is going on in the shot. Many times they do that to cover up the fact that the choreography was minimal at best. Hopefully that's not the case and they hold the camera's more smoothly, staying focused on the action.
Yes, more rare Godzilla films on DVD or blu ray would be nice. I still remember seeing the one with Godzilla's son, which was pretty entertaining as he fought a monster.
Godzilla in strong 3D has a lot of potential. Pacific Rim and its 3D will give us a good idea of the sense of scale possible with the monsters vs robots.
