I think when dealing with the new marketplac set up it will be different to how the old Play.com system will be.
I had ordered from traders pre marketplace and been charged the next day but sometimes made to wait up to 1 week for an item to be classed as posted by said trader, The traders generally do not get the cash until they have physically marked the item as sent so I would imagine if they are charging for these ES store steelbooks early it could be to do with Play wanting to secure the sales are set in stone or ES themselves wanting to ensure the cash is there for them
I am pretty sure 1,000 and then 2,000 steelbooks are quite expensive to aquire from companies and they may need the funds to pay bills

Well,we know its not ES as Blu Lemmy received an e-mail from them earlier, here it is...

From Entertainment store:

Thanks for your email.

I'm afraid to say that, once again, Play have decided to charge for pre-orders on one of our exclusive steelbooks. We did not instruct them to do this.

Sorry for this - it was not, and is not, our intention to charge any earlier than the week before release.

But why would they tell customers they had asked for the orders to be charged? Or it could just be a money maker for Play.com all that cash sat in their account for months pre release making them profit

Well, to be honest this is the first time I have used them and Play have charged me already. ES have stated that this is not there fault but that of Play.com. I understand mistakes can be me made, but charging two months prior is a little naughty in my opinion, regardless of where the blame lies

If I were ES, I would be looking to move their trade elsewhere, as this can only be damaging what I am sure is an excellent reputation

ES is probably set up by former Play.com staff, so no wonder they're doing this.
I mean, where the F did ES suddenly came from!? They just appeared and started announcing exclusive steelbooks. I don't think it's that easy. And they're also charging way too much.

Let's not start that here, it will derail the whole thread.

Derailing threads is considered treason against the blu-ray.com nation and is punishable by death by banning .

Just found this on the order details of my GI Joe steelbook:

What does ‘Pre-ordered’ mean?
  • Your order has been placed, but the item is not yet available.
  • We will hold your order and process it as soon as possible. You can cancel your order at any time without penalty.
  • We will not process your payment until the item is available.

Apparently they will Not process the payment until the item is available...

I still think its related to how some people immediately had their status going to "Processing In Warehouse" and others didnt (just had "Order Placed")

Is it related to when we ordered ? as the OP said T&C had only recently changed.

I ordered immediately it was listed and have not yet been charged.

Were those already charged later orders ?

ES and Zavvi Outlet also seem to be the only two stores which feature as Play deals of the day whenever they feature BD.
