I can hear amazing details in the wind and background noise but where the heck is the sound when they are having conversations. I hear a lot of background stuff its just weird was the movie done this way or is it a defect. Just sat down with the wife to watch it for the first time.

um I will have to check this out... cause i do own that movie in blu.. sometime studio will make the wind noise go then mute the sound before any actor starts a conversation.. so it can be some type of effect of sound mixing.
Try put on the headphone and listen carefully |

The thing is I can hear noises fine, but I watched for 20 minutes and their lips would move but I could never hear any words.

Important note:
If you want to discuss the movie itself, do it in the appropriate forum and thread, ie, this one: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=42023 Thanks. |

It sounds like your center channel might be a little funky. Is it just this movie that it's doing it on? Are you using the Dolby Digital track or the PCM track? What are you watching the movie on? |

FWIW, I use optical and the 5.1 track is phenomenal. I haven't had any issues and I just watched it with a buddy this weekend. (PS3, optical to receiver, 42" 1080p LCD). |

Note: To get 5.1 channel through optical, you need to output bitstream to get the core DTS & Dolby. With optical, you will never get to hear the HD audio anyway, so why not at least get the whole discrete 5.1 channels instead of using PLII. |
