I agree that we need/want DTS HD OP, although I think those who replied here saying that a petition might not make a difference may be correct, unfortunately. However, I would gladly sign one anyway.

The way im thinking is if sony doesnt bring out DTS HD HR/MA on ps3, there will be a lot of second hand ps3 up for sale, and a lot of stand alone players bought instead, with so many secondhand ps3 around , sales of the ps3 will drop, either way it will hurt sony
They are better off upgrading the ps3, IMHO
Im actually betting sony will bring out another ps3 that can do DTS HD HR/MA, like the xbox360 did with hdmi, that way they will sell more ps3, even with a lot of secondhand units going for sale, how many people sold their xbox just to buy one with hdmi??
might be worth a petition then to get sony to upgrade our ps3's or else LOL

As others have said, it has already been said that the decoding upgrade is coming. Now it's just a matter of time. I've waited since I got my plastation in 2006...I figure waiting a 2-3 months more isn't going to kill me. TrueHD and PCM will have to do for now

Dude, PS3 owners have lived w/o DTS-HD MA decoding for more than a year. We can survive a few more months. We're early yet in the format's rollout. Early adoption isn't for everyone.

You're so wrong its laughable.

The vast majority of PS3 owners are gamers for one thing, and wont have a hissy fit just because theres no DTS-MA decoding.

Secondly, Id wager the vast majority of PS3 owners do not have advanced audio setups.

Thirdly, even without DTS-MA, the PS3 has by far the most features, and lowest price, of any bluray player.

Lastly, DTS-MA decoding is comming. Making your entire post moot.

I agree with the thread starter. Only one fact need to be corrected, Sony did release a blu-ray movie with DTS-HD MA. The movie is Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

While I agree that we may get DTS-HD MA in June/July update, please check again, Profile 2.0 is already confirmed to be added in today's Firmware 2.20 update.

"its coming.."

i'll believe it when i hear it from the horse's mouth...

and i go on the record saying shame on Sony... no DTS-MA with the March update is a blantant stall tactic.

the panny 50 cant come a day too soon... then i can demote the PS3 to the component she is... a video game console.

pfft... who ever needed a intermediary in the first place? Everyone already knows its viable and will be implemented... the issue is the deliberate delay.
its quite clear sony doesnt want the ps3 to be the best blu-ray player on the market as it has potential to overshadow its stand-alone models. and thats just too bad. like that old saying, "Family First".
since it looks like no DTSMA this update... i dont see it happening until the sony 08s have their day in the limelight.

Yes you will be able to play Blu Ray's in lossless audio, including PCM and Dolby Digital True HD. I have a PS3 60 gig and this is how I watch my Blu Ray's, using and HDMI cable going to my Onkyo 805 to my Sony 50" SXRD via HDMI. The difference is like night and day, you will be amazed at how great your BD collection will sound with HDMI since the entire signal is all digital.(Both picture and sound).

PCM IS GREAT but DOLBY TRUE-HD give me a break "DOLBY" but what a shitty so-called "HIGH DEF" format. By far the worst option available for HIGH DEF AUDIO.(IMO)

I have yet to see any actual "CONFIRMATION" from Sony on the matter of DTS-HD (HR/MA) being added to the PS3.

I have read many , many user speculations and "I read it somewhere" speculations, and in "my opinion" aswell as tons of "speculation"

But not one person who states that it is confirmed has been able to provide any 1.EVIDENCE, 2.PROOF, or 3. A LINK TO WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED!

So after all the user "its already been confirmed by Sony" not one link from any of the users who state this so-called "FACT"

Please provide 1 or more links that confirm Sony's addition of the DTS-HD (HR/MA) As all this speculation is really only all speculation backed by 0 FACTS!

So I ask for anyone who says its been confirmed to please include there source, NAME,USER ID, ONLINE ARTICLE, or PRESS RELEASE FROM SONY , or even a DTS PRESS RELEASE .

Just any 1 or more of the mentioned sources that has confirmed and I will be happy.

Thanks so much, I appreciate all confirmed sources that any user can add.

Sure, this insider said it. This makes it confirmed. It isn't "official", but show me a time he has been wrong.

Just check the insiders thread. It was confirmed recently b/c so many people kept asking about it that he specifically found out for us. He also confirmed that it would not be in the next firmware update (the one we're getting soon). Of course, you don't have to believe the insiders that have been informing us of various things about the format-war for a while now but for most of us that have seen their info come true time and time again, it's confirmed.

Edit: Here is the post where he says it won't be in the next firmware update.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=1821

Another mention of it (saying it will be decoded internally): https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=1828

Another post where he mentions it: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=1851

Actually, here is some of that post...

Paidgeek never confirmed this, because he would be overstepping his bounds(Sony Pictures) to post such.

We really do as much as we can here.

and leave Dolby and DTS without cash cow titties to suck on?!!

space gorging allotments aside... PCM doesnt offer anything better than the undecoded codecs of the other two... and it just gives studios more room to cram crappy supplements, like, A look into actual U.S Government-funded studies on "Is it really possible a rat can cook?" on Blu-ray movies such as Ratatouille...

I am waiting till June , If Sony dosen't make My PS3 to output DTS-MA & DD-THD I will be selling it and getting a standalone. Because I waited on blu-ray to get the best picture quality/sound quality. I do not give a crap about games or little slower load times. I want the best PQ/SQ.

the ps3 can decode true-hd, now if you mean bitstream true-hd so that a receiver can decode it, you might just want to switch now, from what i have read the ps3 will never be able to do this.
