From what I've read, it's more of an insurance policy than anything the lessen the risk. If you mix your viewing material, and don't have static material for long periods of time (black bars, channel logo, etc), then you'll probably be fine. Since we don't game and rarely watch DVDs in our bedroom, we'd probably be fine too.

But I'll let the disk play while I'm not home or watching it to minimize the risk even further.
