http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ-Points

In short, the work units are different; and different work units get different amount of points depending on the size and the complexity of the required calculations. High end PC's have a special folding client - SMP client, that gives more points because work units completed with it carry bonus points. I've been folding work units ranging from 125 points to 1760 points, but I am sure that this range of points per work unit is even bigger.

PS3 will give about 1000 points per day (PpD).
Stock Single core PC's will give about 50-300 PpD.
Stock Dual core PC's will give about 600-2000 PpD.
Stock Quad core PC's will give about 2500-3500 PpD.

ItPutsTheLotionOn - best folding name I have seen yet

Don't let "Precious" get close to the well, Catherine Martin might pull her in with her.

Despite the great name, you are about to go down a rank in the old team rankings!

It's that time everybody...

FOLD-A-THON 2008

Blu-ray.com had done their part, now it's time for everybody to do theirs. Let's get those folding boxes firing on all cylinders! Get those old Pentium 3's out of the closet! Borg the toaster! Make your friends and family an offer they can't refuse! Remember that the answer to every question is "D" add more boxes.

In all seriousness though, the fold-a-thon is an excellent idea. Looking forward to seeing what will come of it.

Probably not much... It seams that our main donor IcemanBD went MIA. We'll be lucky if we'll manage to compensate for his absence.

The Iceman is still contributing. I think you must mean PaulB404?

You can view the team statistics at the link below.

We're currently ranked at #106 and we're projected to reach #100 within 7 days.

No, I mean Iceman. His last quadruple SMP contribution was on March 30. His PS3 is still running though...

He also mentioned that possibly he'll use the old server to fold... I'll go drink to that... Hopefully, that doesn't make me an alcofolic.

Thats the nature of DC projects. People come, people go. Some people don't go, but their contributions drop considerably. Every team will have to go through it here and there, you just have to hope others can step up to fill in the void.

Years ago, MidnightFreak was one of the top 5 folders in the world, then abruptly announced that he couldn't afford the time anymore and stopped. Some thought it was the end of the world but we moved forward. You can too. EOC says your team is still the 32nd top producing team and the increased visibility of the fold-a-thon can only help.

FOLD ON!!!!!!

Edit: His last SMP contribution went through on the 30th, but your daily total held steady on the 31st and on pace to do so again today.

My PS3 has completed about 11 WU over 24hrs

I may as well ask, how long is it safe to keep my PS3 running without turning it off for a few hours or longer? I don't want my PS3 to overheat. Its a 60GB model, if that helps.

Cool!

I've had my 60GB model on and folding (when I'm not playing blu-ray discs or games) 24x7 for months with no issues (and others in this forum have had it on longer). I am not aware of any evidence that folding damages the PS3.

Of course it is a good idea to make sure your PS3 has adequate air ventilation, etc.

11 in 24hrs! Do you have anything else running. What I mean is do you use a router and running 1 or 2 computers also. Because I can only do 6 to 7 in 24hrs.
