I have only seen three from the Criterion collection thus far (the other two being Seven Samurai and Gate of Hell) and not only is it my favorite Samurai movie thus far, but I would probably put it one my favorite movies of all time. Soooo good

I have a write-up under the User Reviews section of Medium Cool. It's rather long-winded, but the short version is that I loved the movie.

Still no sign of La haine, even though it shipped before Mystery Train, which showed up two days ago. Hoping that at least that shows up tomorrow, but I wouldn't be mad if any other titles come as well. Decided to pull the trigger on Belle de Jour and Pierre Etaix, both blind buys. Aside from new releases, I'm done until the next sale.

Some of it is extremely depressing, but its both rewarding and complex. It just burns an impression on your memory and doesnt let go.

I haven't seen Gate of Hell yet, how would you describe it? More Kurosawa or Harakiri?

Great review, very impressive. Thanks for your insight. I too agree that combining the fictional within the framework of a historical documentary is the best way for the viewer to truly understand the time period he is watching. Looking forward to watching it.For some reason, it is not on Hulu Plus.

If it leans one way, I would say Harakiri. I would say it is more depressing than Harakiri, but the story isn't as complex or rewarding as you put it. I would check it out if I were you.

Do it's a more melodramatic than resonant? I would still probably dig it. In sure it will be worth the $15 I paid for it. Those cheaper titles frequently overshadow the big releases for me

It isn't as resonant as Harakiri. But I would say it's story impacted me.

I can see someone disliking The Social Network. I'm certainly not as jazzed about it as I once was, and I wouldn't label it as one of the top films of the 21st century. But that's just me. I still think it's up there with Fincher's best, with Zodiac being his absolute best.

I need that B&N sale to happen. Want so many titles.

Well I think I'm done for now with the BB/Amazon sell. Was able to pick up:

The Following
Band of Outsiders
Dazed and Confused
High and Low
Monsieur Verdoux
The Magician
Videodrome

No one has mentioned The Killing. I'm thinking about picking this one up.

One of the best film-noirs out there, easily. Not to mention, it's one of my favorite Kubrick's .

I ordered Badlands and M from Best Buy.com. Badlands showed up today; M hasn't shipped yet.
