That's too bad.

What about that other film I mentioned, whose Anniversary is 35 years in 2010?

That would give the BD user base to grow 2 more years, which should help give confidence to Mr. Spielberg about releasing his true gems.

Thanks, Penton.

Reassuring to say the least, though tracking meta data has never been high on the list. Maybe I'll voice my thoughts at the next HPA get together I attend (don't attend many as that's not my main focus).

Thanks for the advice. Have not yet been to "Mun-tree-all" , but I will get there in the next few years if only to fish the St Lawrence or Ottawa Rivers for Muskie (and now sample the bagels).

Without a doubt.

And Montreal Smoked Meat. Don't forget that. Thank goodness the briskets are imported here.

Damn, Penton - selling us such a tidbit and offering no clues is just plain cruel!

Jaws is a good suggestion - I'm thinking Hitchcock a la Vertigo/North By Northwest or perhaps a Leone flavored dish - The Good, The Bad And The Ugly/Once Upon A Time In The West?

I suspect that most people here know that Stanley Kubrick was a legendary filmmaker because of the talented achievements during his film career but, I’m not sure everyone knows how much of an obsessive perfectionist he really was with his work.

Case in point.
Back around 1995?, the National Film and Television Archive in England was commissioned to make a new print for 2001: A Space Odyssey, the funding coming from John Paul Getty’s estate.

Anyway, this new restoration was directly supervised by Kubrick. Because of his demands for perfection regarding the new print, the whole process took about five years ! to complete. He actually passed before it was completed in the U.S.

One memorable experience that was shared by a colleague involved in the process was that when they did the first print and gave it to Kubrick for his approval, he was so enraged with the incorrect color grading (the greens)that he cut the print into pieces to isolate the exact footage that he was perturbed with, put the pieces in a box and had a colleague take them (the pieces) back to the N.F.T.A.

I guess it’s good that S.K. wasn’t Mafioso.

It’s called *bleeding edge info*.

I suspect in a few months that it might show up on some company’s website in a subcategory like “Work in Progress” or in some press release (like the Dalsa 4k camera bragging rights to the new Bond movie) so until then, mum’s the word from me…… because bids haven’t even been obtained yet for the work.

Oh, I don't know about that...

Germany was memorable because they cracked an egg on top of their pizza. It also looked like they deep-fried it, if I remember my friend's story correctly.

Unlike movies, audio is best suited for downloads.

Hehe - the term 'Organized Crime' would have a whole new meaning:

Damn Penton, I don't think I usually spend that much on dinner...for 3 meals out

Next time you're in Philly I have to show you the best and cheapest Sushi in town (I've had Morimoto, while it's also excellent he specializes more in things like real Japanese Uni. This place is 95% as good at 1/4 the outlay . It's also one of the few sushi joints run by actual Japanese people

I don't (though it has been way too long a time), but a few years ago there was a NY food critique that was used to judge who had the best bagels and he chose the Montreal ones. I don’t have the same info to back up the smoked meat (truth is I think he was also sent a smoked meat sandwich to compare but he chose NY on that one)

PS: could not find the original that I was thinking of (which went back to 2000), but

But the big surprise is that Montreal has the world's best bagels. As painful as it is for me as a New Yorker to admit, we have nothing back home that can compete with the wood-oven-baked, sweet, dense, chewy, crusty specimens produced by St. Viateur and its rival, Fairmount Bagel.
but http://www.canada.com/components/pri...5-25c2aae77451 is extremely funny

Back to the 3D topic, if I may. The Man Room is reporting that the Hanna Montana movie is coming to BD this summer with a 2D and a 3D edition. I wonder if this is stereoscopic 3D or the red/blue glasses crap. Any ideas? And if this is the real deal, then where the hell is my BD of U2 3D???

It will almost 100% certainly be Red/Blue, since they're all on one disc

I've suggested several times that Samsung should push their shutter glasses by commissioning a version of U2 for them as a packin

Great idea, except I already have a Mitsubishi.

I'd rather this were released as a Best Buy exclusive (as they've been doing with some music vids lately) because they're already a promotional partner with Nat Geo for the IMAX/DLP release of the movie.
